"Who do you think you are?!"
I yell angrily at the man standing before me.
How dare he threaten my family!
"I'm someone you should not mess with, Silver Eyes."
The man states using my familiar street name and I glare in response.
"Oh, what happened to you? Did you lose a bet or some something"
I ask annoyed causing a loud and thundering laugh to escape his lips.
"No, but you will find out soon enough."
The man says looking down at me with his dark eyes.
"Look, I don't have time for your sh*t." I state before turning to walk away.
"Oh, but I think you are going to want to stay!"
The man calls and I glance over my shoulder to see two men walking forward as they drag what looks to be a kid with a large bag tied over his head.
The man quickly unties the sack before yanking the bag off of the kid's head to reveal a familiar face.
James...
"We wouldn't want your little brother to get hurt, now would we?"
The man asks as he shoves James to the ground.
James's gray eyes are wide with fear as he looks up to meet my gaze.
How dare they even lay a hand on my brother!
I feel my adrenaline begin to race through my veins as I run towards James.
"It'll be okay."
I state as I quickly untie his hands before checking to see if he's hurt.
I sigh in relief when I notice that there are no serious injuries, just a small scratch on his chin from when he was pushed.
The man takes a step forward and I quickly pull out my pistol before taking aim it at the man.
"I'll ask you one more time, who are you?"
I growl out in anger as I narrow my eyes at the man.
The man smirks in amusement before finally answering.
"My name is Blood Arrow, I'm sure you've heard of me?"

"Raya?!"
I jerk awake opening my eyes to see James leaning over me.
His brown hair is a mess and his gray eyes are wide as he looks down at me.
"What's wrong?"
I ask sitting up before letting my gaze shift over the room in search for any danger.
"You were mumbling in your sleep, I got worried."
James exclaims as he looks up at me in concern.
Awe...
"It's okay, everything's okay."
I answer as I ruffle his hair.
"I noticed that you cleaned up a lot!" James exclaims with a smile as he looks around my room.
My bed is on the far wall, there are two bedside tables, a large dresser, small book shelf and a desk and chair.
"Yeah, I figured it would help you get settled in, now come on let's go get some breakfast!"
I state and the two of us make our way into the kitchen.
I frown remembering that I don't have any groceries as I glare at the fridge.
Stupid fridge for not having any food...
"Hey James? Do you wanna go get something to eat in town?"
I ask looking down at my little brother to see a large smile pull at his lips.
"Sure!"
He exclaims before running into his room to get ready while I do the same.
I quickly change into a gray tank top, a jean jacket, jeans, a pair of black combat boots and a denim ball cap to hide my silver eyes, then I wash my face and brush my hair and teeth.
I step out of my room and bump into James to see him wearing a Grave Digger tshirt, jeans and black shoes with green laces.
"Ready?"
I ask and he nods in agreement before running to the front door.
I quickly lock up the house before the two of us begin to make our way towards town.
"Okay so after breakfast-"
"Can we go to the playground?!"
James asks in excitement as he looks up at me with his large puppy dog eyes.
Oh, not the puppy eyes!
I hesitate before letting out a sigh.
"If we can find one."
I agree causing James to smile.
"Thank you!"
"No problem."
I answer glancing up at the sun as we approach the town, it's probably around 7:30am to 8:00am.
"Look! There's a place to eat!"
James says as he points to a small blue building that says 'Jean's Diner'. The sign says it's open and I smile.
"Alright, let's go try it out."
We walk inside and the smell of vanilla instantly fills my nose as I look around the diner.
It looks really nice with the light gray cushioned booths and dark wooden tables. The walls are wooden with blue flower designs and there is a calming orange light from the lamps.
James and I quickly take a seat in one of the many booths before looking down at our menus.
"Hello, my name is Jo, how may I help you this morning?"
A slightly southern accent asks and I look up to see a girl about my age with crimson red hair that falls over her shoulders in soft waves, fair skin and dark, ocean blue eyes. She's wearing a white blouse, an apron and a pair of jeans.
"Wow, I love your hair."
I remark causing Jo to smile.
"Thanks, you don't look familiar."
She says and I nod.
"Yeah, I just moved here last night."
I answer causing her eyes to widen in surprise.
"Really?! That's awesome! Are you going to go to Crescent High?"
She asks and I nod.
"Great! You and me can hang out and I'll show you to your classes, what grade will you be in?"
"I'll be a senior."
"Really?! Me too!"
She says happily and I smile.
She defiantly has a very cheerful attitude.
I gesture to my little brother James.
"Jo, this is my little brother James, he'll be in second grade this year."
I introduce causing Jo to smile warmly as she holds out her hand.
"Hiya, James! It's nice to meet you."
James glances at me before shaking her hand.
"Oh! I'm sorry, what would you like to drink?"
Jo asks glancing between the two of us.
"Chocolate milk!"
James exclaims and I smile at his enthusiasm.
"I'd like a coffee please."
"With cream and sugar?"
She asks as she writes our order down on the paper.
"Umm...sure."
I agree after having a small debate and she smiles.
"Would you vanilla in your coffee?"
"Yes, please."
"Alright, I'll be right back to take your order."
Jo walks off and I look down at the menu and instantly choose a bacon and egg sandwich.
"What would you like to eat?"
I ask glancing up at my brother to see his gray eyes focused on the menu.
"Umm...a pancake and a side of bacon, please?"
"Sure thing."
"Here ya go."
Jo says placing our drinks down on the table.
"Thank you."
I say before taking a sip of coffee from my cup.
"Yum!"
"It good?"
Jo asks and I nod in agreement.
"Yeah, I've never had vanilla in my coffee before."
"Really?"
She asks as her blue eyes widen in surprise.
"Yeah, I usually just drink it plain."
I answer as I set the cup down.
"Ew! Oh, no offense! It's just...I couldn't do that."
Jo says with a scrunched up look on her face and I laugh causing Jo to smile.
"Now, what would you like to eat?"
She asks as she readies her pen.
"I'd like a bacon and egg sandwich and James would like a pancake with a side of bacon please."
"Okay, I'll be right out with your food."
Jo says before walking off and I look around the diner before noticing that no one else is here.
Maybe because it's a weekend?

After a few minutes of James and I talking and mainly him planning out the rest of the day, Jo walks out carrying a large tray filled with our food.
"Careful it's hot."
Jo warns placing my sandwich in front of me and James' meal I front of him.
"Thanks Jo."
I say before taking a bite of my sandwich.
"Best sandwich ever! My compliments to the chef."
I state and she smiles as her eyes brighten.
"I'm glad you like my cooking."
"You're the chef?!"
I ask shocked and she raises an eyebrow.
"What? You don't think I could cook?"
"No, it's not that it's just...are you the only one working here?"
I ask and she smiles.
"Well, just for right now, my momma went to go get some more ice and whatever else we need for the dinner."
"So, it's only you two?"
"Yeah, we had two other girls working, but one quit and the other moved. So, for now it's just me and my momma."
Hmm...I am going to need a job if I want to keep James fed and safe...
"Actually Jo, and I'm not trying to intrude, but if you need some help around here I'm looking for a job?"
I ask nervous causing Jo to smile reassuringly.
"That would be awesome! But I'll have to ask my momma first."
"Alright and thank you, when should I stop by?"
"How about you and I walk here after school Monday?"
Jo suggests and I smile.
"Sure! That would be amazing! Thank you."
"You're welcome...."
