We drive around until I finally see the ice cream parlor sitting on the corner of the street.
The building is small and painted a pale purple with a pearly white trim and large glass windows.
"Okay, let's go get some ice cream!"
I state just as James hops off of the motorcycle before dragging me towards the parlor.
James and I make our way to the counter as our eyes scan over the different flavors of ice cream, yogurts and smoothies.
It all looks delicious...
  "What do you want?"
I ask turning my attention to James.
"Mint chocolate chip!"
James exclaims with excitement.
"Hello, how may I help you this evening?"
A young man asks walking over to greet me as I smile.
"May I please have two mint chocolate chips ice creams and a strawberry smoothie to go?"
"Of course, that'll be six dollars."
I hand the young man the money plus the tip.
"Have a good day!"
I call as James and I make our way towards the door.
"You too, Miss."
As we walk out of the ice cream parlor I notice a small park.
"Lets go to the park."
I suggest causing James to smile in agreement as we take a seat on the wooden bench.
"This is good! Thank you sis!"
James says as he takes a bite from his ice cream.
"You're welcome James, you deserved something."
I state before shifting my attention to a little squirrel crawling toward us.
"Awe, isn't it cute?"
I ask as it stands up on its hind legs before running off.
"Yeah, but raccoons are cooler."
"They are."
I agree since a raccoon is one of my favorite animals.
"Ready to go?"
I ask as James finishes up the last of his ice cream.
James nods as he gets to his feet.
I throw away our trash before grabbing my strawberry smoothie.
"So, are you ready to head over to the daycare?"
I ask pulling out my phone to check the time.
"Yeah, but will I be the only one there while you're at work?"
James asks causing me to frown.
I wish he could stay with me while I was working, but he would just be bored out of his mind.
Besides, it wouldn't be very professional for me to bring him with me to work.
Though, I would still feel more comfortable if James stayed with me, but I know that's not realistic.
  "Probably not."
I answer just as I bump into someone.
  Whoops!
"Watch where you're going!"
Someone growls in annoyance before I even have a chance to speak up.
I let my gaze up to meet a pair of piercing blue eyes.
He's tall, with a rather lean physique and fair skin. He has spiky dark brown hair and piercing ice blue eyes.
Darn...he's cute...
I step back, giving a small apology as I try to step around him. He however seems to have other ideas as he steps in front of me.
Seriously?
"Now look who needs to watch where they're going."
I mutter under my breath causing the young man to steps towards me until he's only inches away.
Ever heard of personal space?
Back up!
"What did you say?"
He demands as his piercing blue eyes glare down at me.
"Sorry, but I really don't have time for this."
I mutter as I try to step around him.
However, his firm hand grabs hold of my wrist before pulling me back to where I was standing.
How dare he?!
Without thinking, I dump my strawberry smoothie onto his head causing the pink substance to stick to his hair and roll down his face in icy chunks.
He stumbles back in surprise before falling to the ground with a heavy thump.
"Enjoy the smoothie."
I growl out in anger as I grab hold of James's hand and dragging him after me.
I pull James onto the motorcycle before quickly securing a helmet to his head and climbing on behind him.
I glance back over my shoulder to see the young man wiping the smoothie off of his face as he gets to his feet.
With a frown on my lips, I drive off down the road and away from the young man.
Who was he anyway?
"I just wasted a perfectly good smoothie."
I grumble in annoyance causing James to laugh in amusement.
"That was totally awesome!"
Oh no....
"Don't you ever do that at school."
I warn as I shift my gaze down to my brother.
I don't need him to get into any more trouble...
"I have the coolest sister."
James says as he looks up to meet my light gray eyes.
Awe...
I think my heart just melted a bit....
"And I have the best brother!"
I state causing him to smile.
  "I love you."
"I love you too."

... .... ...

"Finally, we're home!"
I yell spinning around after setting the groceries down on the kitchen floor.
"James?!"
I call trying to get my little brother's attention.
Where'd he go?
"Yeah?"
He calls back from the living room.
He's probably watching tv...
Well, it's late!
"Go get ready for bed while I put the groceries up."
I yell causing the sound of his running footsteps to fill my ears.
Good.
You know, for a kid his age he actually listens very well.
I begin putting away the groceries away which doesn't take long.
Once I finish with the groceries, I walk into James's room to see him on his phone.
"Is something wrong?"
I ask seeing his concentrated gaze locked on the screen of the phone.
"I'm trying to learn ahead so I can impress my friends in math."
James states causing my eyes to widen in surprise.
"James, you don't need to impress anyone. However, I do agree that it is a good idea to read ahead and learn more."
I state as I take a seat on the edge of James's bed.
"Thanks sis."
"You're welcome James."
I state before giving him a hug and kiss.
"Goodnight."
"Goodnight, sis."
I shut the door before quickly making my way towards my room. I quickly change into my pajamas before plopping down onto my bed and pulling out a book from my nightstand.

After a few hours of reading, I glance up at the clock hanging on my wall to see that it is already three in the morning.
"Crap!"
I stayed up way to late!
I turn off my light before burrying myself into the soft blankets.
So comfy...
My mind begins to wander as I state up at the ceiling in boredom.
A lot has happened recently...
I left my home...
Found a new house.
My brother and I are both going to a regular school.
I have a new job.
James is now going to daycare.
James is making friends of his own.
I seem to be making some new friends.
And most importantly...no one from our past has found us....at least not yet.
I shift my gaze to the window to see the dark sky lit up by thousands of twinkling little stars.
Everything will be okay...
It doesn't take long for me to fall into darkness as my eyes drift close.
It has to be....
