Chapter 10

Maya POV

Today was the first day of classes at NYU and I was trying everything I could to stay awake. Aside from the flipping the bird at a few people who stared at me and not seeing Lucas as much the day was damn near perfect. I was home before Lucas was so I decided to go to Mom's and see her but she wasn't there so I thought screw it and decided to take a nap in her bed. I was so tired and didn't feel like going back home so I figured I'd just nap there. In fact I was so out of it that I forgot to send Lucas a text letting him know where I was.  The slamming of the front door startled me out of a sleep. 

"Maya?" Lucas yelled as he come running into Mom's room. 

I woke up still pretty sleep from my nap but alert enough to know he seemed alarmed "What's wrong?" I said as he walked over and sat beside me. 

"Oh my god there you are." he said as he ran over to the bed. 

"What's going on Lucas?" I said worried about how alarmed he seemed. 

"The next time you decide to take a nap at your moms text me and let me know where the fuck your're at." he snapped and I was so confused as to why he was so angry. 

"I'm sorry. I was so tired and I didn't feel like going back home. Why are you so angry at me?" I asked him. 

"I've been trying to get a hold of you for the last two hours and had no clue where you were." he said with an angry tone of voice. 

"I'm sorry I didn't know I had to check in with you?" I snapped. 

Lucas sighed"I'm sorry for snapping at you. Riley and Farkle didn't know where you were, your mom hadn't heard from you, Riley's parents didn't know, and you weren't at Mom's or at home. I started getting flashbacks to Nate and the thought of something happening to you and Kinleigh terrified me but I was scared to the point I had a small panic attack." he replied as a tear ran down his cheek and then I felt bad because I didn't realize that he was still so effected by what had happened months ago.

I moved the covers off of me and then wrapped my arms around him as I crawled into his lap "I'm so sorry Lucas. Please don't cry because you rarely ever cry and when you do it guts me. I'm okay, me and Kinleigh are fine. I should have texted you and checked in but I have been so out of it the entire day. I came to see Mom since you weren't home and when I got here she wasn't home so I decided to take a nap in her bed. I was so tired that I didn't have the energy to go back home. I'll make sure to check in with you for now on so you know I'm safe."  I smiled at him then placed a kiss on his lips. 

Lucas placed his hand on my growing tummy and smiled, "Now that you are carrying this little one in your belly I'm a lot more protective." he said and then almost like she knew he was upset she decided to kick. 

"I think somebody sensed that Daddy was upset." I said with a grin. 

Lucas smiled and then gently moved me off him and had me lay down. He lifted up my shirt revealing my baby bump which has grown more this month. He placed his hands on my tummy and I smiled as I watched what he was going do. He leaned his head down and kiss my bump. "Daddy loves you, Kinleigh, It's my job to keep you and Mommy safe." 

"You're so cute Huckleberry." I said with a smile. "We both love you very much." 

"I need to keep both my babies safe." he replied as he caressed my stomach with his fingers. "I have never felt so much love for someone before. I love you so much Maya. I'm so glad that you are mine and to watch your body change and this little bump grow knowing our baby that we created together is growing inside of you warms my heart so much." 

I placed my hands over Lucas's and smiled up at him. "You know it was so scary at first but now it's like my maternal instinct has kicked in. Feeling her move around in there and experience all this really is amazing. And I love you too. I've never loved someone so much as you. You're my soulmate forever and knowing this little baby is ours makes me so happy." 

"I wonder what she's going to look like." he said as he re-positioned himself in the bed so he was now laying beside me with his arm draped over me. I cuddled into him and smiled. 

"I wonder that too. I think she'll look liker her Daddy." I giggled. 

"I think she'll look like you but obviously have parts of both us." he said as he kissed my cheek. "You ready to go home?" 

"Yeah let's go. We have to get Kenzie tonight. I told we could watch her at our place so she could sleep over." 

"We can go get her now and then head home. This will work out good that you will have a relaxing night tonight." he said as he sat up and got off the bed. 

"Yeah I'm going to need it before tomorrow night since we have this dinner." I replied. "I'm so thankful for Topanga pulling through and watching Kenzie for us." 

"That's for sure." Lucas replied. 

Lucas and I left Moms then went to pick McKenzie up at school. I was excited to see her since it had been a couple days. Kenzie and I decided to paint a little bit in the babies room. I showed her how to do it and she caught on really quickly. I have to admit that she did a great job. 

"How has school been going for you Kenz?" I asked her as I continued to paint grey butterflies on the already purple wall. 

"Good! I have a boyfriend." she said and I chuckled. 

"Oh really? Don't tell your brother that." I said with a smile. 

"Yep, his name is Treigh." she replied. "And don't worry Lukey will never know." 

"Lukey will never know what." Lucas said as he walked in and the look on McKenzie's face was priceless. 

Kenzie turned to look at me with pleading eyes "Don't tell him Maya." she said. 

"What is it Maya?" Lucas said and sighed. 

"Kenzie just tell him. I'll be here to fix it I promise."  

"Fine." she mumbled in defeat. "I have a boyfriend and his name is Treigh. " 

"Over my dead body." Lucas said and I snorted. "You aren't allowed to date until your 30." 

"She's 7 let her live." I said and he rolled his eyes at me. 

"Yeah let me live. I can't wait to teach Kinleigh about boys." she said and when I looked over at Lucas he looked completely horrified which caused me to just die of laughter. 

"Kinleigh is never allowed to date ever and there will be no discussion or teaching her about boys. The only boy allowed in her life is me." he said and my heart melted. 

"Awe, Huckleberry that was sweet but Mama is going to have to fight you on that one." I replied. 

"There is going to be no fighting cause it ends here." he said and I chuckled. 

"You cannot rob her of her formal dances or prom!" I replied with a laugh.

"She's not even out of the womb yet and you got her halfway to married. Lets bring it down a notch." he replied and I snorted. 

"Treigh kissed me on the playground yesterday." McKenzie said. 

"What?" Lucas and I said at the same time. 

"It was just a peck!" she replied. 

"Okay listen here miss there will be no kissing boys cause it won't be Lucas you have to worry about." I said to her and she was grinning. 

"Next time I pick you up at school I want you to point this boy out for me. I think him and I need to have a talk." Lucas replied and I totally laughed. 

After all this boyfriend chat ended and we set Kenzie straight we continued up what we were dong in the room. It was coming along so nice. I'm glad I could start on the wall decor of it all because pretty soon I was going to get to a point where I just wouldn't feel like doing it. After we finished up I put Kenzie in a bath and then to bed. Once she was out and I went and cuddled with Lucas for a little bit.
