"Hello?" I answered my phone, setting my paint brush down.

"Hey, babe." I heard Harry's voice and I couldn't help but smile a bit. "Do you wanna hang out tonight? There's a fair downtown."

"Yeah, sure. When?" I asked and began painting again, wedging my phone between my shoulder and my ear.

"I'll pick you up at around seven." I nodded before realizing he couldn't even see me. "And before you ask, yes, I will bring you my big black jacket."

"You know me so well." I joked and Harry laughed. "I'll see you later."

I hung up and checked my phone to see that it was about five thirty so I took all of my brushes to the sink downstairs to wash out. I put everything on paper towels to dry and headed back up to my room, trying to figure out what to wear. I decided on some black leggings and an over sized black sweater, setting them on my bed. Walking to my bathroom, I took my hair out of it's ponytail, seeing as I looked like a mess. I turned on my straightener and brushed through my hair, getting my makeup out. I did my foundation and then began straightening my hair, leaving it all down. I only put on a bit of eyeliner and mascara since I was tired and would most likely rub my eyes.

I went back to my room and put the new clothes on, making sure my curtains were closed this time. As I went to get my phone, a familiar package caught my eye and I gulped. Landon had sent me the letters from mom a couple weeks ago and I have yet to open them. I can't bring myself to do it. I shook the thoughts from my head and got my stuff, heading downstairs, only to see Dad at the fridge. He turned around when I came in and offered a small smile.

"Where are you heading?" He wondered, getting an apple.

"Me and some friends are going to the fair downtown." I said, grabbing my wallet from the counter.

"Do you need money?" I shook my head and adjusted the beanie on my head. "I saw those letters from your brother."

"Yeah, I haven't read them yet." I got quieter towards the end and he frowned, taking a bite.

"Did your mother ever ask about me?" Dad asked after a few awkward moments and I looked over at him in confusion.

"No." I shook my head and he nodded, looking over at me. "She cried a lot, though." Dad's face fell and I didn't waver my gaze on him. "Right after you left, she didn't go to work for three weeks. She sat on the front porch every day, waiting for you to come back even though we knew you weren't. Landon and I finally told her that you weren't coming home and she picked herself up. She went back to work and started being a mom again because she knew she had to. We were all each other had left and we both needed each other to get through it. But, she was the best mother she could be and we got through it." I stared Dad straight in the eye and he didn't reply.

"I'm sorry." He said and I wanted to roll my eyes.

"It's a little too late for that."

I didn't listen to what dad had to say because I was already halfway out the door. I shut it behind me and walked down the driveway. I sat down on the curb and waited for Harry, not caring that it was freezing outside. I just couldn't stay in the house anymore. I momentarily closed my eyes and stood up at the sight of Harry's car pulling out of his driveway. I immediately got in his car, buckling my seat belt and leaning back, turning my head to look at him.

"You good?" He asked, pulling away from the curb and I nodded, taking a deep breath.

Harry drove towards downtown and we stayed in silence, calming me down a bit more. I couldn't help but smile to myself as Harry intertwined our fingers on the center console. I watched out the window as he pulled up to a giant lot. He found a parking spot and we got out, Harry grabbing us both jackets from his backseat. I slipped Harry's jacket on and tugged it closer to my body, inhaling his scent. Harry interlocked our fingers as we walked towards the gate and I leaned close to him while we stood in line to pay.
