Dumbledore confiscated Liesel's wand and handed the rest of her belongings to Remus. "I'm going to have this looked at."
"Sir, if that's not her wand, then whose is it and where is hers? Do you honestly think it blew up in her face?"
"No idea," Dumbledore said; Remus thought that he doubted it though...he certainly doubted it.
"If it isn't hers, how long do you reckon she's had it."
"Too long apparently."
Remus nodded. "Yes Sir. I'll just take these things to her." He looked at her handbag and curled his lip wishing he didn't have to carry that as well. He picked it up and found it to be dreadfully heavy. "What the hell does she keep in there!"
Dumbledore chuckled. "I've found that most young ladies who carry those place their entire lives in them, much like a portable oubliette."
"No kidding!"
The Headmaster nodded his head. "No kidding."
Upon exiting the Library and rounding the corner, they just barely missed seeing Sirius headed toward the hospital wing, still carrying Liesel in his arms and Dumbledore smiled and nodded. "That's a good lad," he said quietly.
"Headmaster, do you think she's that ill?"
Headmaster Dumbledore looked into the eyes of his sixth-year Gryffindor prefect. "Probably."
"Oh god! It's all my fault!"
"Not to worry, Remus. I expect all she needs is rest, a few decent meals and a new wand."
Remus trudged to the Hufflepuff entrance and knocked on the door. Several minutes later a first year opened the door. "Hello," he said. "Can I help you, Sir?"
"Hello," Remus said as he smiled. "Would you happen to know if Kaitlyn Rogers is in the Common Room?"
The young boy nodded. "Yes she is."
"Would you kindly fetch her for me?"
"Of course. Would you like to come in?"
"Ah yes, thank you."
The boy nodded and lead him down the sloping corridor and into the circular common room to see several students eyeing him with bewilderment. Josh McDonald, his counterpart approached him. "What's up Remus?"
"I actually came to see Kaitlyn...I have Liesel's things."
Kaitlyn, having heard her name looked up from her puzzle book and eyed him with a raised brow when she saw her friend's things in his arms, as well as her handbag on his shoulder.
She approached him and smiled. "Hullo Remus. Why do you have Liesel's things?"
"Well..."
He stopped at turned his head at having heard someone knocking the password on the outer door. Moments later, Sirius was standing next to him. "She wants her dog," he said, out of breath.
"What? Where is she!"
"In the hospital wing," Sirius offered.
"WHAT! WHY!"
Sirius eyed his Quidditch counterpart who'd only just turned to face him and Remus. "She's exhausted is all."
"Oh, is that ALL!"
Sirius nodded. "Yes, that's all."
"Well, it's no wonder," Kaitlyn exclaimed as she grabbed Liesel's things from Remus' arms and unceremoniously removed the handbag from his shoulder. "You should be ashamed of yourself, Remus Lupin!"
Remus closed his eyes and nodded. "I am, trust me."
"The dog please," Sirius asked.
Kaitlyn nodded. "Yeah. Come on," she said and Sirius followed her toward her dorm room.
When she opened the door, Romulus lifted her head with anticipation and then lowered it and huffed. Sirius walked in and grabbed at the leash that he'd left hanging by their door. "Come on old girl," he said. "Bobbie wants you."
The old dog jumped off Liesel's bed as she whined and trotted over toward him and then raised herself on her back legs and put her front paws on his shoulders, sniffing hard at his shirt. Kaitlyn shook her head. "You're the only one she does that to," she said.
"I know. I suppose it's her way of saying 'hi, what the hell do you want'?" The dog whined again and practically tore off his arm, pulling him back through the door. "Hold on, slow down Romulus! You don't even know where we're going!"
Jonson huffed as he rolled his eyes and shook his head at having seen the massive dog pulling Sirius Black up the corridor and through the portal.
Sirius had to let the dog go as she tore up the staircase; Sirius nearly collapsed on the stairs. Remus helped him to his feet. "I have a feeling that he knows exactly where to go," Remus said.
"Rommy isn't male, Remus," Sirius said and winced. "Damn it, I think I cracked a rib!"
"Well, we're headed to the right place."
Sirius winced again. "Yeah."
When they arrived to the Hospital Wing, they found it nearly empty, except for two students with the flu and Liesel. They also saw a disheveled woman sitting on the edge of her bed.
"What the hell," Sirius exclaimed.
"Good evening boys," she said, her voice raspy from non-use and she turned her attentions back toward Liesel. She held the girl's hand and kissed it gently.
"I know who you are!"
The woman smiled. "Look at you Remus! All grown up! You've been quite hard on your god-sister you know?"
"I know," he replied mournfully.
"Hold on," Sirius said. "Who the hell are you!"
She released Liesel's hand and stood, holding out her hand and Remus chuckled silently. "This is Bobbie's mum, Sirius..."
