26. Valentines day and secrets

Liza's POV

I'm suddenly woken from my sleep when I hear my phone ringing. I reach over to answer. I see it's David.

Liza: "Jello?"

David: "Pie. Want to get breakfast?"

Liza: "Dude, it's 6 in the freaking morning."

David: "And?"

Liza: "And I sound like a dead frog."

David: "I think you sound beautiful."

Liza: "Ok but for real, what is open this time of morning?"

David: "I was thinking of that little breakfast place on 9th?"

Liza: "That place is expensive, though!"

David: "My treat."

Liza: "Ok sure. What time?"

David: "I'm outside of your house."

Liza: "DAVID!"

I run over to my window, and I see David. I hang up the phone.

Liza: "What are you doing here?"

David: "Waiting for you! Hurry up!"

Liza: "I don't think I should be going out in a crop top and sweatpants."

David: "Well I think you look good in a crop top, but I agree that you should probably change to go out."

I close the window and change. I grab my stuff. A few days ago I found out that I could climb out of the window onto a tree to get out of my house. I do that, and it seems to surprise David.

Liza: "Let's go!"

We walk over to the breakfast place.

Waiter: "Hello you two! Are you guys here for Valentine's day?"

David: "Yes we are."

She leads us over to our table and I whisper to David.

Liza: "So that's why we are here? For Valentine's day?"

David: "Maybe."

He chuckles.

Liza: "Ugh you are so annoying sometimes."

We sit down and look at the menu. Once we decide on what to eat, we order.

*After they eat*

Once we finish eating, David pays the bill. I look at my phone, and I see a message from Gabbie.

Gabbie: Come over to my house at 7pm. I want to talk to you.

Liza: Ok. I will be there.

*Flash ahead to her with Gabbie*

I arrive at 7 as told. I knock on the door.

Gabbie: "Hey girl!"

Liza: "Hey. Why did you want me here?"

Gabbie: "I wanted to ask you something."

Liza: "Ok?"

I sit down on the couch.

Gabbie: "Do you like anyone?"

Liza: "Yeah I like my friends. What do you mean?"

Gabbie: "I mean like like. Do you have a crush on anyone?"

Liza: "Umm, no."

I look away at the wall.

Gabbie: "Who is it?"

Liza: "I said no one."

Gabbie: "Every time you lie you look away. Tell me!"

Liza: "No. I'm not telling you!"

Gabbie: "I invited you so I could ask you without other people around. Please tell me Liza. We have been friends forever! You can trust me. How about I guess?"

Liza: "Sure you can guess. I will nod."

I hide my face in a pillow.

Gabbie: "Alex?'

I shake my head no.

Gabbie: "Scotty?"

I shake my head again.

Gabbie: "David?"

I don't move. My body freezes.

Gabbie: "Oh my god! You have a crush on David! I knew it."

I keep my face in the pillow. Gabbie pulls the pillow out of my hands.

Liza: "Hey! That was my pillow!"

Gabbie: "Liza, this is my house."

Liza: "Oh yeah. I forgot about that."

Gabbie: "Wait, so you like David? This isn't a joke?"

Liza: "No."

I suddenly realize that it's not fake anymore. I really do have a crush on David. Shoot.
