BESTFRIEND

CHAPTER 1

I woke up from my deep sleep when I felt a tender skin shake my shoulder. My eyes remained close as I made a soft sound to let the person know I was already awake. Sunod na naramdaman ko ay ang paghawi niya sa aking buhok.

"Hey, wake up na." A voice of a woman I know so well, whispered, as her hand held the back of my head.

I forcefully opened my eyes to look at the person standing beside me. Dahan-dahan akong bumangon sa kama habang kinukusot ko ang aking isang mata, at bumaba ang kanyang kamay sa aking balikat. I instantly felt the extreme pain in my head that made me close my eyes once again, which was only then that I remembered I was a bit drunk last night.

"Good morning, best." The woman greeted as she kissed me on the forehead.

I was still trying to recover from the sudden headache, so I didn't get to answer immediately.

"I already prepared your breakfast. May gamot ka narin dun para dyan sa hangover mo. I have to go now, best. May early meeting pa ako with a client." She stated, which alerted me at once, like I totally forgot about the pain I was feeling.

"WHAT?! Bakit ngayon mo lang ako ginising, best? Wait, give me 5 minutes. Magbibihis lang ako tapos ihahatid na kita. Saglit la--"

"Best, no need. It's fine. I can drive. Magpahinga ka nalang." Awat niya sa biglang pagkataranta ko.

"Haynaku, best. Tigil-tigilan mo 'ko. Alam mong kahit kailan hindi umepekto yang mga ganyan mo sakin." I said as I stood up from the bed to get some clothes and went to the bathroom to change.

"But can you drive? May hangover ka pa. I told you, I'll be fine. Tatawagan kita kapag nasa office na ako." She convinced once again but I wasn't falling for it. I never will.

Hindi na ako sumagot para malaman niyang hindi ako nakikipagtalo sa kanya tungkol dito. I just finished changing, so we could already go. When I was done, I quickly went to the kitchen to eat a bit of the breakfast she prepared. I covered the remaining half, so that I could finish it later when I get back. Then I also drank the medicine placed on the counter.

Wala na akong narinig mula sa kanya hanggang sa makasakay kami ng kotse. Maybe because she knew that she wouldn't be able to stop me anyway.

Okay... let's get on with the brief introduction.

The name's Glaiza Castro Galura, and the woman I'm sitting next to is Rhian Denise Ramos Howell -- my bestfriend eversince we met just before our junior year in highschool. We went to the same university and also took up the same program in college.

Our friendship's really tight, probably because we went through a lot together. I've been living with her eversince my life got messed up. As to why it did... well, that's a story for another time.

"Okay ka lang? You were acting a bit weird kagabi. Wala ka sa mood mantrip?" Sabi nalang nito habang nagmamaneho na ako patungo sa opisina nito.
