10. Confusion Between Us

"The most confused we ever get is when we try to convince our heads of something our heart knows is a lie."

Brian's POV:

Damn it. What had I done? I was so stupid. What was I thinking when I was going to Brooke's house and that too, in the middle of the night? I was so embarrassed. I couldn't even face her. This had to top my list of embarrassing things I did.

And what I did when I got there was the stupidest thing ever. I know I was upset about mom, but that didn't mean I should act like an idiot. I just wasn't thinking straight last night because I was a bit drunk. I didn't drink very much. I knew I shouldn't have listened to Sam. He would take every opportunity to get drunk if he didn't get laid.

I still remember everything. Thank God I didn't reveal much about my parents to Brooke. I wondered what she would have done when she would have heard that. Would she have laughed at me? I doubted that.

Would she have comforted me? Or made fun of me and gossiped about it in our school like those other girls do? I don't think she would do such a thing, would she?

I still remembered everything.

We were so close, like just a few centimeters away when I held her hand, preventing her from hitting me with that bat.

She looked so adorable with the baseball bat in her hand, when I came into her room. She was wearing a loose, an almost see through top and shorts. The thin fabric clung to her skin perfectly.

She looked so bewildered when I commented about having some fun.

And then I remembered our hug.

She was telling me to go away. And that brought memories, unpleasant ones. It reminded me of what mom said to me. It was the same thing Brooke said to me. And I was so upset. She was a great distraction. She had distracted me from my personal problems. But just then, she had to say those words that made me remember everything.

And I didn't know what came upon me. And before I knew it, I was hugging her. And still it felt like she was not close enough.

But when I realized what I was doing, I was so embarrassed. I never wanted to face her again. Brooke must be so mad at me. I left without an explanation as to why I did that. Honestly, I didn't know the answer to that myself.

When I left, I didn't look back at her. But I did feel her stare bore into my back.

And this morning, I knew that she would ask me about it. So I tried to avoid that. Or maybe just delay it. I knew she wouldn't give up until I told her what was up with me last night.

So I hid in the locker room. Seriously, I was been stupid again. Why should I hide? She was not going eat me up. Or was she?

Sam and Jake wanted to talk to them. Jake. That idiot is totally whipped. I could tell.

At lunch, I sat with them. I wanted to sit beside Brooke but I did otherwise.

They were all talking about the trip. I was coming. And so was Brooke.
After a while, a girl came to our table and introduced herself as Gemma. She was pretty. She sat at our table and Brooke introduced us to her.

As soon as she spoke my name, she looked at me. Or rather glared at me. She was scary that way so I quickly looked away.

Gemma then began talking to me. I didn't want to be rude, so I talked to her too. But I regretted it. She was damn boring. All she did was flirt, wink, touch and flirt with me again. Unlike Brooke. I just couldn't seem to get her out of my head today.

At one particular time, I saw Brooke glaring at us. I wondered why she was looking at us like that. Several times, I caught her watching us like that. And it looked like she wanted to murder Gemma. Was she jealous?

I decided to see if that was true. I focused my gaze on Gemma. One of her hair strands were carelessly fanning in front of her face.

I tucked it behind her ear when I thought that Brooke was looking. And then I looked at her. And I could clearly see it in her eyes. I smirked and she looked away quickly.

Gemma continued on with her ramblings. But I wasn't paying any attention to it.

After some time, the bell rang and lunch break ended.

As soon as that happened, Brooke quickly got up and left the cafeteria. Maybe she was going to class.

Chemistry.

The class I shared with her. Oh crap.

I remained seated in the cafeteria. And so did Sam and Jake.

"Hey, we are bunking the class. Are you coming with us?" Sam asked me.

Without even asking for, I had a chance to avoid Brooke today. What should I do? Should I bunk today? Or go to class.

But anyways she was going to bring that topic up. Might as well just get that over with.

"No. I'm going to class."

"Okay," They stood up and started to leave.

I stood up too and made my way towards the Chemistry classroom.

The teacher had not come yet when I got to class. I scanned the room and spotted Brooke seated near the window. Her head was bent over a book and she had a pen in her hand.

I decided to sit at the desk behind her.

She didn't sense me presence until I had went up to my seat and sat there. As I passed her, she looked at me from the corner of her eyes and stopped doodling on her book.

I thought she would talk to me as soon as I got there. But she didn't turn around.

Okay. What was up with her?

After a few minutes, the teacher entered the class and began with her lecture.

I'm dedicating this chapter to ZoodlesNoodles for her awesome comments and votes on my other story TBUD and also for this story too. She's really a great girl and I'm so lucky that she's my friend. She's a great author too. Please follow her and read her book 'Hopeless, Desperate and a Knife' and it's sequel 'Hopeless, Desperate and a Life'. Also read her other work 'It Has Never Been Darker'. It's a really good book! READ IT!

Hope you enjoyed the chapter.

I'm so so so sorry. It had been ages since I last updated. Blame it on my stupid exams or that my laptop chose this perfect time to not work.

Okay. Maybe the chapter was a bit boring. I can't write that well from a man's POV. But I hope it's not that bad.

But at least you got Brian's POV!!!

Vote, comment, share and fan me!
