Part XXIII

Mariana's POV- March 2016

"How does it feel to be back?"

I reached for my mimosa and smiled at Tyler Toffoli who was sitting across from me.

"I'm technically not back, I've got a month left of school" I stated.

"When do you head back to Toronto?"

"Friday morning" I replied.

"You can make it to the game then!"

"Sorry, I'm going to the exhibition game at Dodgers Stadium" I answered.

He frowned and looked at his girlfriend, Cat who just smiled.

"Sorry about that"

I interned with the LA Kings during their Cup win in 2014, and that same summer I interned for the Dodgers. When Ty found out I personally knew Cat he bugged me until I introduced him to her. I finally agreed, and they have been dating ever since.

"How did the interview go?"

I looked at Cat and took a sip of the mimosa.

"It actually went real well, she told me I was the most qualified candidate" I replied.

"I mean you two have great references from two of LA's top sports team"

I had a reference from her, and from the LA Kings.

"I'm sure they will get back to you"

"I actually got the internship" I said.

She grinned and stood up.

"Congrats!"

I laughed as she made me stand up so she could hug me.

"The intern with the current internship got a job with the LA Rams, and he's going to cover for me until I get back" I stated.

"How long till you're officially back?"

I looked at Tyler as Cat let go of me.

"I should be back before May 9" I replied.

"So you're done with your undergrad in less than 1 month?"

I nodded.

"How do you feel about that?"

"Nervous" I admitted.

"You shouldn't, like George Lopez says...I got this!"

I laughed as Cat shook her head slowly and covered her face.

"Do you see what I have to deal with?"

"You love him" I stated.

"Speaking of love, are you seeing someone?"

"Something like that" I answered.

Ty hummed.

"What do you mean?"

"I just don't see a point in labeling a relationship if I'll be back in a month" I replied.

"You young people and not labeling things"

I raised an eyebrow.

"You're one to talk aren't you" I said.

He rolled his eyes and smiled. He had just broken up with his girlfriend when I introduced him to Cat.

"You can't act like long distance doesn't exist"

I shrugged.

"I've got a month to figure it out " I told them.

"I'm going to give you two privacy and go pee"

Tyler stood up and as soon as he was out of sight Cat turned to me.

"How long has this been going on?"

"Since I got to Toronto" I answered.

She hummed.

"Have you caught feelings?"

I nodded.

"Do you have a picture?"

I pulled my phone out of my purse and showed her a picture of Will. She gasped lightly as she looked at the picture.

"How did you meet William Nylander?"

"He bumped into me when I was downtown buying some books" I replied.

"He took a nasty hit during the World Juniors last year"

"Yeah, he had a concussion" I said.

"Oh wow"

She smiled and handed me back my phone.

"He's a handsome guy"

"He is" I agreed.

"How's the sex?"

"Real good" I answered.

"Has he caught feelings?"

"Yeah, but I got him to agree that we'd speak about our said relationship in May" I stated.

"That's a month away, have you thought about it?"

"I mean at first I was totally against it, but at the moment it looks like he's going to have his way" I said.

She laughed.

"Good for you though, I'm glad you're enjoying Toronto"

She wiggled her eyebrows.

"I expect a full story when you get back"

"Of course" I told her.

It was crazy to think that in a month I'd be back in LA. I guess time passes fast when you're having fun.
