Part XXXIX

Mariana's POV- December 2016

I pulled out my ringing phone from my purse and looked at the screen. George was calling me, probably to ask if I was going to pick him up from the airport.

"Hello" I said answering the call.

"Hey, it's George"

"I know, I have your phone number saved" I stated.

"That's just mean"

I smiled.

"Who's picking me up from the airport?"

"Dad Is" I replied.

"You're busy?"

"Something like that" I answered.

"Will you be free tonight?"

"No, I actually won't be home tonight" I told him.

"What?"

I waved when I recognized a car that slowly pulled up next to me.

"Why aren't you going to be home tonight?

"Because I'm in Toronto" I replied.

"What?"

I smiled.

"I'll talk to you later" I promised.

I ended the call and looked at Ellie who was making her way over.

"It's so nice to see you!"

She immediately pulled me into a tight hug.

"You're tanned and you look so good!"

"I love your hair" I told her as she pulled away.

"Thank you! You cut yours"

I nodded as she lightly ran her hand through my hair.

"Is this all you brought?"

I looked down at the duffle bag next to me and nodded.

"I can stay with you, right?" I asked her.

"Of course, but talk with William first"

She took my bag and tossed it in the back seat.

"Let's head out"

I opened the car door and let out a deep breath as I took a seat on the passenger seat.

"Nervous?"

"Very" I answered.

Ellie got into the driver's seat and smiled.

"George gave me his new cell number" I stated.

"Have you called him?"

"No" I admitted.

"Why not?"

"What if he doesn't answer?" I asked.

"You could have left a message"

I let out a sigh and nodded.

"Do you want me to drop you off or do you want to go eat something?"

"I want to talk with him" I told her.

I know there was practice today because George told me that Auston had practice at 9AM. It was past noon, and I was hoping Will would be home.

"Alright"

She glanced at me.

"Does he have any roommates?" I asked.

"Yeah, he lived with Kasperi and Nikita"

I nodded.

"George told me"

I pushed my hair back and took a deep breath.

"Don't be nervous, I'm sure he'll hear you out"

"I wouldn't hear myself out, what I did was incredibly childish" I stated.

"But you're here now, and confronting this like an adult"

I nodded.

"Did you highlight your hair?"

"Yeah, I wanted to try something different" I answered.

"It looks real good"

She reached over and squeezed my hand.

"Just try and relax" 

I nodded and closed my eyes. I didn't open my eyes until I heard her shut off the car.

"We're here"

She smiled.

"Go get your man back"

"Can you wait for me?" I asked her.

"Jeff actually works at the coffee shop two streets down that way, so I'll be there"

I nodded.

"William is alone right now, Kasperi posted a picture of him and the other roommate having breakfast"

"I feel like I'm going throw up" I stated.

"You are not, go"

I took a deep breath and opened the car door.

"Good luck"

I got out of the car and grabbed both my hands.

"You can do this" I mumbled to myself.

I made my way to the door of William's shared condo and lightly knocked. 

"Coming!"

I took a deep breath just as the door was unlocked and it opened. 

"Hey" I breathed out as I looked at Will for the first time since May.
