Part LVI

Mariana's POV- January 2017

I took a seat next to Sophia and set my drink on the cup holder.

"For you" I said handing her the drink she asked for.

"Thank you"

She placed it on the cup holder and turned to me.

"Does Adrian know you're here?" I asked.

I laughed as she winked at me. 

"He's going to be happy to see you" I noted.

"We're both busy this weekend, so it's nice to see him before we both have to travel"

She had a meet against Oklahoma and it was away. Adrian would be away this weekend in San Jose. 

"We probably won't see each other until February"

"You two will be ok" I assured her.

She nodded.

"Like I told Adrian, if you and Will can do it so can we"

I smiled and she squeezed my hand.

"Has he been to any of your meets?" I asked.

She shook her head.

"No, he's either got practice or a game. That or he's out of town, but I'm glad he's not there"

I laughed.

"I showed William my beam and floor routine and Adrian covered his face the entire time"

"He just doesn't want you to get hurt" I told her.

She had told me he freaked out last season when she dismounted on her neck. It was really nice to see how much he cared for her. I had been in Toronto at the time, but I got updates from dad telling me that Soph was well.

"Here they come" I said.

I smiled as Sophia waved getting Adrian's attention. He smiled and frowned when one of his teammates bumped into him. Sophia blew him a few kisses before signaling that she expected a goal from him. I watched as he laughed and nodded at her. He ended up scoring the only goal for the Reign, but they still fell to the Texas Stars, 3-1.

"So George is mad at Will" I brought up.

She laughed.

"Oh my god, I can't believe Jo went and complained to George about that"

"What did Will do?" I asked.

"He gave her the cold shoulder"

"That's all that happened" I said.

She nodded.

"Yeah, they greeted each other. William gave her the cold shoulder after she confirmed that she was with George last night"

"Was Adrian with Will?" I asked.

"Yes, William did nothing wrong. He and Adrian began talking in Swedish but it wasn't even about her, it was about last night"

I nodded.

"I'll clear things up with George and call Jo out on that"

I smiled at Adrian as he made his way over.

"What a nice surprise"

He pulled Soph into a hug and kissed her forehead.

"We didn't win, but I scored a goal for you"

She smiled.

"Good game"

He smiled and pecked her lips. 

"Thanks Min"

He squeezed her.

"Well I hate to break the love fest, but we have to go" I butted in.

He frowned a bit and nodded.

"Thanks for coming"

He let go of her and pulled me into a hug.

"Day 1 without William"

I rolled my eyes as he laughed.

"Thanks for bring her"

"No problem" I said.

He nodded and pulled Sophia into a hug.

"Try not to break your neck, ok?"

She rolled her eyes and nodded.

"I'll try"

He hummed.

"Oh my god, Jo went and snitched to George about William giving her the cold shoulder"

He laughed.

"I figured she would"

She sighed.

"Should I use what I have against her?"

He shook his head.

"You're better than that"

"I'm not, what do you have against her?" I asked.

Sophia looked at me.

"Freshmen year, she threatened me and told me to back off from George" 

I raised an eyebrow.

"She didn't know that Enzo was dating mom"

"Who the fuck does she think she is to tell you that" I stated.

She shrugged.

"I just kind of laughed and walked away from her. She didn't find out until after the Arizona meet"

Sophia got injured during the Arizona meet.

"Does George know about this?" I asked.

"No"

Adrian shook his head.

"Mari, you're better than that. She's going to break up with him soon, and he will apologize to you and William for being a dick"

I frowned.

"Be the bigger person"

"I don't want to" I complained.

Adrian chuckled.

"You need to though, don't start another problem with George"

I sighed.

"Have you heard from that internship?"

"I haven't checked my email" I admitted. 

I pulled my phone out and loaded my mail app. I opened up the email and frowned as I read the email.

"Did you not get it?"

"No, I did" I replied.

"Were you planning on getting away with Willy for the All Star Weekend"

I nodded.

"Say no then"

"That's rude" I told him.

He shook his head.

"You can say no, it's not like you're going to get paid"

He had a point there.

"And it's not the career path you want"

Also right.

"And you'll get to see Willy"

"You're right" I stated.

He smiled.

"I don't really hear that often, so I'll take it"
