Ingrid Mikaelson, the youngest of the surviving Mikaelson children, has been at her oldest brother's side since everything: from being killed to inventing the infamous curse of the Sun and the Moon. She was with her dear brother until she fell hopelessly in love and wanted nothing more but to run away with the young lad. That was the moment when she wanted to break free from her brother's grasp. And like all of those who wanted to leave him, she ended up in a coffin.

Ingrid would pick her family over anyone else, but she fell in love. In 1743, the Mikaelson's were living in Scotland while they waited for a safe passage to America. It was then when Ingrid fell in love with a Scottish Gael, a man named Ewan Mackenzie of the Clan Mackenzie. They planned on running away together, but Klaus found out and killed him and daggered her. He undaggered her before 1920.

In the 1920's, Ingrid fell in love once again with a vampire named Stefan Salvatore. She enjoyed the way he was carefree, the blood-lust, the sensual way he touched her while they danced. She wanted nothing more but to run away with him, and Rebekah was going to help her, and the perfect opportunity rose when their father found them in Chicago. It was then when Klaus heard of the plan and daggered them both, Ingrid for wanting to run away again and Rebekah for wanting to help.

Then, when Klaus needs help to find the Original Witch's necklace, he awakens his sisters, both who are very angry and the other who still loves deeply. When Ingrid sees Stefan again, she things his love for her will be just like it was in the 20's. But, when she finds out that there's another girl wanting his love, she gets a bit jealous. And no one wants to make an Original vampire jealous, especially Ingrid.

Ingrid's weaknesses, just like the rest of the Mikaelson's, is her family. She would do anything for them. But, another of her weaknesses is love. Those things tear her apart in a world where she has to chose one or the other.
