OTHER |

• Vivienne and Claudia Yoo are inseparable. One can never be seen without the other, even when it came to the most mundane things like doctor's appointments.
• Although they are twins, they each have their own personalities. Claudia was loud, outgoing, a cheerleader at Mystic Falls High School. She was bubbly, and smart, and the kindest person one could ever meet. Vivienne, was the opposite of her sister. Although kind, she preferred to play volleyball and read books in the comfort of her bedroom. The only reason she went to sporting events was to support her sister, especially when it came to cheerleading competitions. And she liked to keep her bedroom neat and tidy, the opposite of Claudia's colourful and coordinated mess.
• Vivienne dreams of leaving Mystic Falls for somewhere more big, somewhere like New York or California. Maybe even somewhere international like London or Beijing. She loves to travel and take pictures, the sole reason why she has her photography taped all over one of her bedroom walls.
• During the summer before junior year, Vivienne and Claudia had a public dispute about Claudia's ex-boyfriend. She was thinking of going back to him, and Vivienne told her that she shouldn't because he's an asshole and wanted to use her for one thing only—sex. Claudia still had feelings for him, so she fought back that he had changed and wanted a true relationship; Vivienne fought back that he broke up with Tiki Rogerson because he slept with her and he had this dumb list about every girl he's slept with and rated them on their performance. Claudia didn't believe her, called her stupid, and stormed off in the car, leaving Vivienne stranded at the Mystic Grill.
• Bonnie had seen the fight, and felt bad for the youngest Yoo twin, so she offered to give her a ride home. During the car ride, Bonnie reveals that she also tried to talk Claudia out of going out with her ex-boyfriend but she was dead-set on returning to the high school fling. Bonnie called it, and her friend, stupid for wanting to return to him. She claimed that Claudia saw it as her happily ever after, a story they would tell their children and grand children abot.
• Vivienne arrived him and thanked Bonnie for the ride. Before she could close the door, Bonnie told her to be careful and to be safe, and not to let any strangers inside the house. Viv found this strange, but laughed it off and thanked her again before running inside. Claudia's car wasn't in the driveway, which made her feel annoyed because she knew that her sister probably went to see that asshole.
• At around three in the morning, the Yoo family was woken up by pounding on their front door. It was Mr. Yoo (he chose the English name of Robert, after Robert Frost, because he really liked his poetry) who answered the door. There stood Sheriff Forbes, a grave look on her face as she looked at the family that had lived across from her for many, many years.
"Sheriff Forbes," Robert said with a hoarse tone, rubbing his eyes to get a good look at her. The flashing red and blue lights made it hard to see, to focus on the woman in front of him. "Is something wrong? Did Claudia wreck the car again?"
Sheriff Forbes took a deep breath, and glanced from him to his wife. Gillian Yoo was a tall and slender woman, with long black hair and deep eyes. She always dressed fashionably, a liking to sweaters and purses and even heels. As one of the best, and one of the three, lawyers in Mystic Falls, she did have to be presentable, but it didn't stop anyone from gawking at the woman who looked younger than she actually was.
"Sheriff Forbes?" Robert repeated her name.
"I'm sorry," she finally said, looking back at him. "Claudia was..." She remembered that night, two years ago, the call that changed the lives of the majority of Mystic Falls. A car had driven over Wickery Bridge and straight into the river: two dead, one alive but unconscious. She could see the face of Jenna Sommers and Jeremy Gilbert when she arrived at their home to tell them the news, how they both looked like the end of the world had just occurred.
This felt different. It was something usual nowadays, now that there was something other than human invading their small and homely town.
"What happened?" Gillian asked, stepping in front of Vivienne and right by her husband. "Liz, what happened to Claudia?"
"Claudia was found on a bank of the river, beneath Wickery Bridge." Sheriff Forbes looked at each member of the Yoo family, her throat drying. "It looks like it was suicide."
Vivienne stared at the Sheriff with wide eyes, her heart hammering loud against her ribs. Sound became fleeting, her parents cries becoming distant. Those words made her feel empty, as if something had washed over her and cleansed the dirt. There was no emotion on her chest, no thoughts jumbling through her mind, and no words to move with her tongue.
Vivienne Yoo felt like a part of her had been ripped away, like tearing a fabric in two.
• Vivienne becomes a prime suspect of her sister's case after it was revealed that they had a dispute a few hours before Claudia was found dead. There are quite a few people who think that she murdered her sister, and those who think that she's innocent. It's what begins her senior year in the worst way possible. The group of people she used to be friends with ignore her, thinking that it was her who killed her sister. Her locker is vandalised with the word 'MURDERER' in bright red painting, a picture of her and her sister taped right beneath it.
She grabbed the picture and stared at it, at the smiling Claudia who had her hair thrown up in a pony tail and her pristine maroon uniform on. It had been a Saturday night, a football game just behind them, and it had been drizzling all day. The Mystic Falls Timberwolves had won to the Richmond Tigers, and the majority of the high school would be celebrating at the woods with booze and fire and loud music.
"Is this fun for you all?" Vivienne yelled, turning around to face the school body. They all stopped to stare at her, eyes wide, some with their cellphones out. "Is it fun for you all to make fun of my sister?"
The silence that filled the hallway made her blood boil.
"Vivienne," a soft voice came between the students. Caroline Forbes pushed between the students, closing the distance between them. She laid her arm around the girl and began to pull her out of the crowd, all while snapping at the kids that had their cellphones out to record them. "The show's over, losers. Get lost!"
Caroline and Vivienne had never been the best of friends. They could be considered acquaintances, since the only way they knew each other was because of Claudia. After all, the blonde had spent the night at her house several times. She could still remember Claudia and her laughing through the walls of their house, the soft hush of whatever romance movie coming from the TV.
Caroline took the girl to an empty classroom, Bonnie Bennett and Elena Gilbert right besides her. Once inside, she quickly pulled out several tissues from her purse to give to her. "It's over," she mumbled with a soft smile. "You're all okay."
"I was fine," Vivienne hissed, grabbing the tissue harshly. She wiped away the few tears that had managed to escape, then pushed the tissue into her pocket. "I had it."
"It's okay to need help, Viv," Elena Gilbert said, laying a hand on the girl's shoulder and giving her a soft smile. "Trust me, you're going to need help and it's not bad. It's actually very, very helpful. Take it from me..."
Vivienne had to remember that Elena had lost her parents during their sophomore year, a tragedy in the small town of Mystic Falls. But, ever since then, it seemed that tragedy liked to follow the Gilbert family, especially Elena.
"I'm—"
"You're not fine," Bonnie added. "Listen, Viv, we know that you're not responsible for this. I took you home that night, remember?"
Vivienne looked at Bonnie, mouth pressed into a straight line. She had never really been friends with Bonnie, maybe the thin line between acquaintances and school peers, but never friends. The only reason she knew her was because of Claudia. She took a moment to stare at the three girls in front of her, realising that they were Claudia's friends. They had all been there for her since middle school, and their friendship grew stronger once they got into high school and began to date and cheerleading. She knew them, but not as much as they knew Claudia.
She swallowed and took a step back. "I'm not Claudia," she said, shaking her head. "I'm not going to replace her."
"We weren't thinking that!" Elena quickly said. "Really, Viv, we just want to help you through this."
"We're grieving, too," Bonnie added. "Claudia was our friend."
"She was my sister!" Vivienne yelled. "She was my sister and now she's gone and... And I don't know what to do!"
• It's how the Save Elena Gang get close to Vivienne Yoo, the younger twin sister of Claudia.
• Vivienne knows that Claudia did not commit suicide, because she had no signs of her wanting to end her life. Even her diary—which Vivienne began to read from front to back—had nothing that said that Claudia was depressed and had suicidal thoughts. It's how she comes to the conclusion that Claudia Yoo was murdered.
• She tries to get Sheriff Forbes to open the investigation, to go deeper and search further for them to catch the real culprit. She even tries to bring in evidence, such as her diary.
Sheriff Forbes sighs and looked down at the girl. "Go home, Vivienne."
"You have to believe me!" she cried. "Please, Sheriff, you have to believe me. There is no way in Hell that Claudia killed herself. I know her more than I know myself."
"Go home," Sheriff Forbes repeated. "Do you want me to call your parents and have them pick you up?"
Vivienne's hands fell to her side as she looked down. Her chest ached and her fingers felt numb, and her legs felt as if they would let her fall at any given moment. She swallowed and turned, walking out of the sheriff department. The whispers of the deputies made her shoulders become stiff, their wandering words making her want to turn around and punch them in the mouth. That would shut them up.
The night was warm, but Vivienne felt cold. She pulled the hood of her sweatshirt up and pushed the diary into her backpack, mumbling to herself about how worthless the police and the officers of Mystic Falls were.
As she walked to the last step, she bumped into someone. "Sorry," she mumbled, brushing past them.
"Vivienne Yoo?"
She stopped at her name. The voice was deep. Hell, it was even seductive. She turned to see a man there, tall, with broad shoulders and dark hair and soft eyes that would have made her nervous if she wasn't so tired. She ran her fingers through her bangs, trying to tidy them up a bit. "Who's asking?"
The man smiled. "You're Claudia's sister, right?"
She nodded. "Who's asking?" she repeated.
"My name's Damon," he said as he took a step closer to her. "Your sister talked a lot about you."
• He offers to buy her coffee, but she declines, so he compels her to buy a coffee. While at the Mystic Grill, he gets to know her, all thanks to compulsion. He wants to know about her, and Claudia, and every bit of thing they have gone through.
"Are you Stefan's brother?"
Damon's eyes widened. "How did you know?"
"Stefan mentioned a Damon before, and that he was his brother," she mumbled as she stirred the coffee with a small red straw. She never really liked coffee. In fact, she hated the taste of it. It was the smell that she liked, the fresh smell that made her imagine as if she were in some cafe in the middle of New York City. Maybe, California. "This town is too small for there to be another Damon." She just wanted it to be somewhere far from Mystic Falls.
He quirked a brow up. "You notice too many things, Vivienne."
She shrugged her shoulders and looked up at him. "That's what happens when you're accused of being a murderer," she muttered. She would have added that it was because she used to have some fascination to sociology and psychology at the beginning of high school, so she had watched too many shows and read too many books. Now, she noticed things about people that not many others did. Like, the way Damon was sat in a nonchalant way, but the tapping of his fingers against the table showed that he was nervous or anxious. The way his eyes studied her, just like she studied him.
• Even though Vivienne has become close friends with Elena, Caroline, and Bonnie (even Stefan), she becomes closer with Damon. They spend their time at the Mystic Grill late at night, talking over coffee. Damon with his alcoholic drink, and Vivienne stirring the damn coffee but never drinking it. He tells her parts of his life that he hadn't shared with anyone, making them up to be as if they were in present time. He even vents to her, then compels her to forget whenever he mentions anything about the supernatural. He didn't want her to know about it, not yet. He liked to have this normal friendship, liked to see the innocence and the pain behind the brown eyes of the Yoo girl.
• Vivienne learns about the supernatural the night Gone With the Wind is being screened in the town square. Damon, under the influence of werewolf venom, attacks her and calls her by the name of Katherine. He feeds from her, leaving her bloodied and weak, and saved by none other than Elena Gilbert. She takes her back to the Salvatore Boarding House, along with a sedated Damon, and keeps her in another room.
She wakes up after Damon drinks Klaus' blood, realising that the stories she's heard a lot about as a child and read books about are true. Vampires exist, and so does every other supernatural thing that has been spoken about like mythology. She pushes Damon away when he walks into the room, terrified of the man that fed from her.
He tries to apologise, but ends up scaring her more by speeding in front of her as she tries to run away.
It's Elena Gilbert who soothes her, who tells her everything that she needs to know: Caroline is a vampire, Bonnie is a witch, the Salvatore brothers are vampires that turned in 1864, and Elena is from a magical line of doppelgangers. It was her doppelganger, Katherine, that killed Claudia.
Even though it isn't Elena's fault, Vivienne starts to resent her. Only because she shares the same face as Katherine, her sister's murderer.
• She also learns that Claudia knew about the supernatural. She had been involved ever since the beginning, and kept it a secret from her to protect her. There were entries of that in her diary, but Vivienne thought she was just calling them those things just like one calls other idiots or assholes.
• After learning about the supernatural, Vivienne spirals out of control. She becomes a drinker, she cares little about things, and she wants to live on the edge. It's a dangerous thing, and Caroline keeps a close eye on her because of that. Damon does as well, trying to get her to speak to him, say something other than sarcastic comments.
• During Senior Prank Night, Vivienne is terrorised by Stefan, someone whom she had known as Elena's sweet boyfriend who had problems but tried to fix them. Since he has little to no humanity, he will do anything to hurt his brother, and that means hurting Vivienne.
• While everyone is focused on Klaus and Stefan drama, Vivienne wants to learn everything about Katherine. She wants to know every little detail, including about her past and the people she knows. She is hellbent on killing Katherine Pierce, to avenge her sister.
• Vivienne can be killed (and turned into a vampire) by Klaus after Stefan steals the coffin, the violence in which he tries to convince Elena and Damon that no one will be safe until he finds Stefan and gets his family back.
It's there where Damon realises that he cares deeply for this girl, more than he thought he cared about Elena Gilbert.
• Vivienne realises that she cares for Damon, too, after he's the one that helped her through her transition, showing her that her human life was not over just because she was dead. She goes to the boarding house to thank him, to tell him that maybe (hopefully) they can be something more than acquaintances, maybe even more than friends, but she finds him busy with Rebekah Mikaelson (the new girl at Mystic Falls and Klaus' sister).
Damon pushed Rebekah away and stared at the girl. "Vivienne..." he breathed. The way she stood made him feel strange, hurt.
Her eyes showed the emotion her face didn't. Shoulders slumped, fingers bunching up the skirt of her dress, and the sound of her heart beating wildly against her chest. It was a different sound than the one he became used to when she was human, the gentle thrum of her blood coursing through her veins whenever he was near her. This was different. Vivienne as a vampire was different. It was more real, more fruitful.
"Sorry," she said, taking a step back. "I should have knocked, I didn't know..."
"No!" Damon followed after her. "Vivienne, wait!"
"Sorry!" she called as she went down the stairs. "I should really learn to knock."
"Vivienne!" He grabbed her by the hand and pulled her to him, making her look at him.
She stared at him with her mouth open, eyes wide.
He felt no pulse, no thrum of her blood coursing through her veins. It had been months since she became a vampire, but he still had to get used to the feeling.
She pulled her hand away. "You should get back to your... Your date?"
"It was nothing."
"Well, it sure didn't look like nothing when she was ripping your clothes off," she spat, pulling her hand away from him. "Seriously, get back to your date. I'm sure she's waiting for you to return. I need to get home anyway."
• The storyline can follow, with Damon and her dancing between being together, flirting, and being in a great distance. But, Vivienne's main goal is to kill Katherine. She wants revenge, and she'll let no one, not even Elena or Damon or Stefan, get in her way.
After Katherine dies, she doesn't know what to do. She feels empty, sad, like there is nothing left for her.
It's there where she starts to live for herself. She wants to do things for her, be known s Vivienne Yoo and not Claudia's sister or the sister of that murdered girl.
