TITLE | Huaka'i pō
Deadly ghosts of ancient Hawaiian warriors
FACE CLAIM | Auil'i Cravalho
OC NAME | Pele Mahelona
MOVIE(S) | Spiderman: Homecoming and Avengers: Infinity War
LOVE INTEREST | Peter Parker
SUMMARY |

❝Falling in love with a god is not a death sentence. The story is only a tragedy if the god loves you back.❞

Born into a family with names of gods, Pele Mahelona had to live up to her name. Named after the goddess of fire, volcanoes, lightning, and the creator of of the islands, she was the exact opposite. She didn't like fire, she wasn't as forward as Pele was in the stories she heard, and she definitely did not control fire.

After one of the nights of Kanaloa, Pele was not the same. Her father's job moved them to New York, a state where the beaches were not as welcoming as those in her native home. She's enrolled at Midtown School of Science and Technology, and meets new friends. From quiet Michelle Jones, hilarious Ned Leeds, quirky Liz Toomes, to the awkward Peter Parker.

As her friendship with new friends grow, something inside of her does at well. The cold of New York no longer feels as cold, and the heat feels like nothing to her. During thunderstorms, she was able to conjure lightning and split the tree in her backyard in three. The fire from the stove became higher when she wished it to be.

It seemed that Pele Mahelona was living up to her name.

OTHER |

Pele Mahelona is Native Hawaiian, with Puerto Rican and Portuguese decent. Her family has names of gods because of a tradition beginning long before she was born. In a way, they are the human counterparts of the gods they are named after. When they come of age, or when needed the most, they receive the full power of the gods. Pele is named after Madame Pele, the goddess of fire, lightning, wind, and volcanoes. She has an older sister named Namaka, named after the sea goddess, and a younger sister named Hi'iaka, named after the patron goddess of Hawai'i, hula dancers, chant, sorcery, and medicine. Her father is named Kamohoali'i, after a shark god. Her mother is named Poli'ahu, after the goddess of snow.

Each person in her family was named by Kupuna, the oldest member of their family right at their birth. It was said that before each birth, the Kupuna has the name appear to them in the form of a vision or dream. Before Pele was born, she saw fire. And fire has two meanings: destruction or rebirth. She chose Pele, because the goddess was patron of both.

Pele loves the ocean, both in its wildlife and surfing. She was taught to serve the ways of nature, to thank the animal for their meat and hide. She also loves to surf, became quite prominent on it and wanted to do nothing more but to begin a professional career out of it.
