Bloodlines - Not Alone

Eve follows Leo out of her bedroom but they both stop on their tracks when they see Jeremy walking out of the bathroom. They stayed really still, almost as if they were hoping that Jeremy wouldn't notice them standing there.

Jeremy runs a hand over his sleepy face and stares at his sister "don't tell Jenna" Eve whispers with a pleading look

Jeremy seemed to wake up a little more after hearing his sister strained voice "are you okay?" he asks taking a step closer to her

Eve nods while clearing her throat "yes" she assures "I'm just going out for a bit" she informs glancing at Leo that stood quietly besides her

Jeremy eyed Leo up and down "okay" he lets out a little reluctant

Eve offers him a little smile while walking in his direction, trapping him into a tight hug "I love you" she whispers

Jeremy frowns but hugs his sister back "are you sure you're okay?" he asks again, once they pulled away

Eve nods, only then realizing how weird she must look to her brother in that moment "I am" she assures with a small smile "I'm just stressed with school. That's why Leo is taking me out for a walk" she lies, stepping closer to Leo

Jeremy nods "be safe" he advices sending Leo a threatening glare

Eve offers her little brother the best smile that she could master before walking down the stairs with Leo following closely behind. She grabs her car keys from the bowl seating on the table near the door and they both walked out as quietly as possible

The cold air hit Eve hard, making her shiver. Leo notices that and takes of his jacket putting it around her shoulders. She looks up at him with worried filled eyes "I'll drive" Leo says softly, extending his hand in front of her

Eve agrees, handing him the keys. She didn't like the idea of anyone else other than herself driving her 'little flamingo' but she was too nervous to drive.

Leo turns the ignition and the lights from the dashboard go off lighting up the inside of the car. Eve glances at Leo to see him struggling to fit on the small space on the driver's seat. On any other day she would find that funny but in that moment she just couldn't bring herself to smile. The lump on her throat was tightening and she just wanted to cry but she swallowed her tears focusing on the shining numbers on the panel that marked two a.m.

They drive slowly through the road that leads them to the Salvatore boarding house. Everything was silent there were no signs of an accident or any sound of police sirens anywhere near them. Rationally Eve took that as a good sign but her heart was still pounding.

After half an hour of a drive that usually lasts ten minutes they arrived at the Salvatore's boarding house

Eve gets out of the car, clutching Leo's jacket close to her. She walked at a fast pace towards the door that Leo opens for her.

"Elena" Stefan calls urgently, appearing on the hall

Eve shakes her head "she's not here?" she asks looking around

Leo stops next to her wrapping a protective arm around her waist "she left" Stefan informs nervously

Eve's eyes go wide "I'm going to call her again" she says grabbing her phone between her shaky hands

The phone beeped over and over again until a female voice informed her that she had reached the voicemail. Eve ends the call, her heart drumming in her ears. "Something is not right" she lets out turning to Leo. "We need to keep looking for her" she pleads "maybe she took the long way home" she rumbles "I heard it Leo. I heard the tiers burning against the concrete. She screamed" she says not being able to hold back the tears anymore "I can't lose her" she says between a sob
