His heart beat fast in his chest and reaching up, he clutched his undershirt in his fist, squeezing.

The basketball game was bound to start in only a few minutes and Gunner felt nervous. It wasn't unusual.

His team would be playing against a team from another school and Gunner's coach had told them that the visiting team had fairly good players. While their own team also contained good players, they hadn't managed to win a single game in a year.

Gunner took a deep breath and turned around to look at his teammates, all of whom were in the locker room. A coupe of his team members took in his nervous stare and patted him on the back, encouragingly. "We're gonna win this time. Just don't piss yourself out there."

He snorted suddenly, his tension evaporating for a while.

"Come on, people, let's get out there." They heard their coach saying. "Our school's students and faculty are expecting a good show out there. Make sure you give 'em one!"
