Alex's POV:
"Hello Remington." I said
Remington's eyes widened as he opened the door wider. He looked like he saw a ghost.
"Who is it?" I heard a familiar voice say from behind Remington. Emerson stepped into view. He froze when he saw me.
"Hi Emerson, long time no see?" I say
Emerson too looked a little taken aback if I didn't know better. Frightened.
"What are you doing here?" Remington asked as he leaned against the door frame
I sighed at the ground, my hand in my jacket pocket the other in my hair.
"Can I come in?" I asked
Remington looked hesitant, looking over his shoulder at his brother, almost for approval. Emerson shrugged and Remington opened the door wider, stepping aside. I walked in and looked around.
"Nice place." I say
"Thanks..." Emerson mumbled as Remington closed the door
Emerson and Remington stood next to each other, slightly on edge.
"Well if I didn't know better then I'd say you two are less than thrilled to see me." I breathed
Emerson and Remington looked at the ground. Emerson spoke up.
"No offense but you did kind of walk out on us." Emerson said as he hugged himself
I sighed, nodding "Oh...right."
I bit my lip waiting for someone to speak but nobody did.
"Look guys, I'm different now okay? I'm better. I've cleaned up. I don't- you know- do that anymore..." I say trying to clear the air
"Heroin?" Emerson said bluntly
I sighed "Yes. That..."
"Then why are you here?" Remington asked emotionless
I turned my attention to him, away from Emerson. Who shot me daggers, of course I was glaring back. I had a feeling Emerson didn't trust me.
Remington had tears in his eyes, he tried to hide them but he just couldn't. He looked away when I looked at him.
"Remington can I talk to you?" I glared at Emerson "Alone."
Remington looked at his brother then at me. He nodded and walked into the kitchen. I followed.
"Take a seat." Remington said nodding to the bar stools at the breakfast bar. He walked over to the fridge opening it.
"Want anything?" He asked
"No, I'm good.." I said
Remington closed the fridge and stood in front on me on the other side of the bar, leaning on the counters behind him. He played with his lip as he stared off into space, but he was still listening. It was his way to not have to look at me.
I sighed "Remington... I know what I've done, all the pain I must have caused you- I would take it all back if I could. Believe me I would. I'm so so sorry."
Remington sucked in a breath, tears in his eyes. He quickly looked at me.
"You have no idea, how much pain you put me through."
Remington looked away again.
"Remington... I'm so sorry... but I've changed, I have really..."
A tear fell down Remington's face but he quickly wiped it away.
I sighed "That night... um... that night I um left... I- I thought about what you said... I got clean. I have been for eight months."
Remington looked around, trying not to look at me, but ultimately ended up looking me in the eye.
"Promise?" He asked shakily
I stood up and walked over to him, placing my hand gently on his arm. Looking him in the eyes.
"I promise Remi." I whispered to him, inches from his face.
"You called me Remi..." Remington smiled
"Of course I did... everyone does." I say
"It's just different coming from you. That's all." Remington said
"That good?" I ask
"Perfect..." Remington said "Ma Cheriè."
