XIX. Africa and being kidnapped /Help!/

“You are out of your mind.” Mai herd her best friend Drew say to her on the phone “What if something happens to you. I have a wish to make your wedding not your funeral.” He said to her

“What can happen to me? It’s just a trip like any other. I don’t see what you and James freaking about.” She could since from her phone that he was rolling his eyes

“Oh I don’t know what could happen to you? Let me think oh yes you could be eaten by a lion are ran over by a elephant.” Mai laugh at that “Don’t laugh things like this have happen to other people.” He said in his serious voice

“I’m not going to the Amazonas it’s just Africa people who don’t have food or medical attention.” She said as Drew on the other side sighed

“You are not going alone are you?” he asked afraid of the answer.

“No someone people are coming along with me.” She said

“Ok but still try not to die.” He said pleading she could hear it in his voice

Her bags were packed and she was ready to go to the airport when James appeared in front of her door.

“Do you have five minutes?” he asked coming in her rented apartment here in London.

“Oh do come in its not like I’m going anywhere.” She said sarcastically

“Good then you won’t have a problem looking at this?” he said ignoring her sarcasm and putting a file on her cafe table

“What is that?” she asked annoyed already

“Life insurance. When you said that you were going to Africa a called your mother and well we put insurance on your life. Don’t worry if something happens to you I get one third of the money and each of your parent’s gets one third as well. You just need to sign here.” He showed her where her signature was needed

“Is this really going to make you feel better?” she asked him holding the pen in her hand

“Yes!” James said rapidly as she shook her head and signed the paper. “Now you can leave and die for all but please don’t.” He said in a panic voice

An hour later she was on a plane to Somalia where she was going to spend a few weeks and then move to Nigeria and to top it off she is going to Kenya. In the airport she saw a tall man standing by her plane his hear was black and curly he had Bermuda shorts in crème color and a white t shirt. When she comes close to him he turned to look at her.

“Oh you must be Mai.” He said in a British accent she give him a smile and said

“Yes I’m Mai and you are?” she asked him

“Oh right. My name is Benedict Cumberbatch but only my mother calls me that the rest of the world calls me Ben.” That made her smile

“It’s nice to meet you. So are we going to go on that plane or not?” she asked him and he just nodded his head.

The plane took off as Mai and Ben started talking she learned he was an actor

“So why are you doing this? I mean you could be somewhere on a beach doing god know what; but you chose to go to Africa.” She asked

“I’m not a fan of the beach that is one and two I like helping people I mean this people need as much help as they can get.” He said as she nodded to his words “To tell you the truth my mother said that I was going to get eaten by lions or attacked by hippos.” At that Mai laughed “I know its ridicules.” He said

“My friend and my manager think the same thing.” She said to him and it was his turn to laugh.

They spent the rest of the flight talking about places they have been what have they seen and the work they have done working with UNICEF.

The first week was all about helping the needy and reading and singing with the children. They have been there for two weeks camping on a open sky and fire.

Night was falling and Ben and Mai decided to get wood for the fire tonight.

“I can’t believe you did that.” Mai said smiling to Ben

“I was ten what did I know about the morals.” He said as if trying to justify himself and then there was a noise from the bush behind them. Man masked have grabbed them from behind they spoke one of the nations languages Mai and Ben where knocked out in a meter of minutes.

This was a kidnapping.
