42. San Diego and superheroes

Coming to Comic con didn’t sound like a bad idea when Matt proposed her to go with him. Their kid’s will spend the weekend with their grandparents but now she was sure it was the worst idea she had ever heard.

It all started when Matt left with Jenna for the panel on Doctor who. Mai loved comic con when she played Elena in the Warren family she loved coming a meeting with the fans of the show. She was a huge lover of comics and running around and checking other panels was great. Well now that she was warring a cap and glasses.

And then the producers showed up. She was recognized by two of the producers of Warner Bros. Mai was jumped at like she was some wild animal.

“Hello Mrs. Perroni or is it Smith now?” one of them asked and she was fairly confused about it

“It’s Perroni – Smith and who are you two?” she said looking at the two man in gray suit. On was taller his hair was gray and the traces of wrinkles on his face told her that he had passed his fifties. The other guy was short she could see that he had lost a lot of hair in the last years because his baled part of a head was covered with a wig and she noticed her edges. He was a little chubby but she could see that he was successful in whatever it is he did.

“We are producers form...” the tall one started and Mai stopped him mid sentence

“How do you people find me? It’s like I have a sing on my forehead.” She started to say when the small one started

“We work with Marvel studios and with the development of their new comic book they want us to make a movie based on it.” He told her and she listened to him

“We have casted five hundred women for the main role.” The tall one said in a sigh at that the little one continued

“We are becoming a little bit desperate.” He said nodding his head

“Well you can find any other woman to play her it’s not like she is the heroine in the story.” Mai said as they both lifted their eyebrows and give her a look “Really the main character is a woman?” she asked as they both nodded their heads Mai took a deep breath and said “No.”

She started walking away and they followed her and said

“But we didn’t tell you anything about the role.” She just smiled at their comment and said

“I don’t want to know.” Since that moment they had started following her around comic con. And when she thinks she had lost them they find her.

This has been going on for four hours now. And frankly she was becoming a little bit annoyed at this game of cat and mouse. When she comes to her room in the hotel she turned around to look where they were she found them right in front of her.

“Ok you guys are obviously not going to give up so how about you give me the script and I read it.” She ask and they look at each other and shrug their shoulders

“Ok but if you don’t take the role you...” she stops the small one who was talking to her

“I can’t say anything to anyone I know.” She said as the tall one gives her the script

“We will see you tomorrow morning.” As they said that they both left her alone and she entered the room taking of her shoes.

The room was big enough for Matt and her so she took the sofa next to the window using the natural light she was given and started reading throe the script she was given.

The story had intrigued her and she could not put it down. The character they were offering her to play was an amazing woman she was a detective by day and a vigilante by night that had a team that worked for her a plus side was she was rich a billionaire by the way.

When she woke up in the morning she could not remember going to bed. Matt was fast asleep next to her so she assumed that he took her to bed. She cleaned up nicely left a note for Matt when he wakes up and took the script heeding down stairs to meet the producers.

They were seated by the window in the corner when she walked up to them

“Mrs. Perroni – Smith” the tall one said “So what do you think of the script?” he asked and she smiled

“Please call me Mai. And I have read the script and it is brilliant i could not put it down for my hands.” She said with excitement

“Does that mean you will be taking the role?” the small one asked and she smiled at him

“Yes I will be taking the role.” She said with pride and they both exhaled

“Thank you God.” They said in the same time

“It was that hard to find an actress?” Mai asked and they nodded

“Mr. Jonas and I have not been lucky to find the girl who fits the profile and when we did she was not willing to live the country.” The tall one said

“Mr. Daniels is right nobody wanted to take the role because the filming will take place part in America and part in Canada I hope that is not a problem?” Jonas asked

“No not at all Matt is the one who will be at home since he quit being the Doctor and if he is not around his mum or my mum can take care of our kids.” She said and they both nodded

Mai smiled at them as they shook hands. Looks like she is becoming a hero.
