The week had gone by faster than Mai wanted it to but James convinced her that working with Matt was not going to be so bad and that she should give it a shot.
She had been filming for a week now scenes with Matt were not many as they just started filming. But the scene she was fearing was going to be filmed today. To be specific the kiss scene.
“Are you ok you look like a ghost?” Karen asked she was playing Vera’s best friend who sang at the club
“No I’m not ok do you know what I have to do today?” Karen looked at her confused and Mai passed the script to her.
Karen took it and looked at the page it was on. The kiss scene between John and Vera, she looked at Mai with a look full of sympathy.
“Mai it’s been what more than half a year since then what is it that you are afraid of?” Karen asked her and Mai just shook her head
“I don’t know it’s just that weird feeling I have that when I kiss him it will be more than just a kiss and I just can’t go throe it again. I’m not going to cry over him again what’s in the past is in the past.”
What Mai didn’t know was that Matt was standing behind the trailer listening to all of this. She was afraid he was going to hurt her again and it was not his plan the hurt her. She was the most amazing woman he has met and he was going to make her trust him again even if it took him years. He quietly left.
The filming continued as planed the next scene was filmed in the bar when John was talking to Jimmy the bartender asking him to tell him if he saw a women in the picture.
“Let’s start people we are in a little bit of a hurry.” Dan said to the crew. The director calls action and everybody is in there carater.
Soft music starts playing and Karen starts singing. Matt is sitting at the bar drinking his scotch and on the other side of the bar is Drew playing the bartender cleaning the glasses. The bar is filled with people dancing talking and drinking
“Comes a rainstorm, put your rubbers on your feet. Comes a snow storm, you can get a little heat. Come love, nothing can be done.” Karen sings as Matt puts his empty glass on the bar.
“Keep ‘em comin’, pal. You’re doing great.” Matt says to Drew who start serving him another
Karen keeps singing as Matt turns to Drew who stops whatever he was doing
“Say maybe you can help me. I’m looking for a dame.”
“Aren’t we all?” Drew says with a smile
“This one’s special.” He says pulling a photo out of his trench coat and showing it to him “Do you know her?” Matt asks
“Know her? I’m lookin’ at her.” At that Matt turns around and notices Mai wile Karen is still singing
“Come love, nothing can be done.”
Her hair is curled in thick curls, red lipstick on her lips and, a white fur wrap and evening gloves. She is holding her drink in one hand and her evening bag in other. He’s captured by her beauty and they catch each other’s eye.
“And where have you been all my life?” Matt says as the director calls cut.
“Ok guys let’s take it upstairs for the kiss.” Sam said and all of the crew left because this was the scene of Matt and Mai. His eyes met hers and she quickly looked away.
The next scene was being filmed on the floor up stairs. Everything was set for their big kiss scene. As soon as the director called action Mai and Matt become Vera and John
“Betsy’s right, you know? Dempsey’ll scrag us for sure if he catches us turtle-doving.” Matt started as Mai looked at him
“You gotta get me away from here, John, away from Dempsey, away from all of it.” She said with a little panic in her voice
“Oh, yeah, and go where? We can blow this town, sure. Only, how far are we gonna get when we’re both flat broke?”
“We’re not broke, John. We’ve got all the money we need and more around my neck. All we gotta do is take it away with us.”
“What, are you daffy? You got at least two brunos with you at all times when you’re wearing that thing.” Matt points out
“It’s funny. Back when I was a cigarette girl, I’d watch Dempsey coming in with his girlfriend wearing this thing around her neck, and I wanted it. Pretty soon, I was his girl and I had it. But it’s not a necklace, Joe. It’s a diamond noose, and it’s getting harder to breathe.” Mai says ironically
“Then we gotta turn that noose into a lifeline. The question is, how?”
“When I’m not wearing it, Dempsey keeps it in a secret safe, and I know where it is.” At that Matt smiles and says
“You are one smart doll.” In that moment Mai smiles a devilish smile and he leans to kiss her. It’s a passionate kiss and all the boundary’s they had a gone. The director calls a cut but they are still kissing and he looks at Karen and Drew
“I think they heard you.” Karen said and Drew continues
“But they chose to ignore you.” At that they both smile kindly at the director who gives them a fifteen minute break.
They all leave the room leaving Mai and Matt alone. The kiss lasts a few more seconds and then Mai pulls away looking at Matt breathing heavily and then she runs away from him as far and as fast as she can. This cannot be happening to her not again.
To Matt this was the first girl who ran away after kissing him.
So drama. They kissed this is just the start of my plan moahhaaa. Don’t worry Mai will realize what is good for her cough Matt cough. But I want your opinion tell me what you think vote comment. The inspiration come from Castel once again so forgive me but I love that show. I love you all :) xoxo
