Hope. That's all I had left.  I didn't want anyone other than the trio to know about my 'Torture Room' as Winter had come to call it.

I doubt I would be able to stand it if Stark or Hawkeye found out. Stark would never let me live it down- probably making jokes about it or comments referring to it. Hawkeye would just baby me, treating me as if I was one of his kids.

Thinking of kids I question if Lila is okay after that kick. How she managed to kick me hard enough to make my head bleed I don't know but my god, Clint is going to have a handful when it comes to her. And don't get me started on her brother, he has to much energy, I chased him around the yard three times before the trio came up from my 'Room' and Thor was already out there with him and Lila when I came out, he was chasing Cooper like I was minutes before.

The kids had lunch in the car and it was now about half past four.  Lila needed to go for a nap, so I set up the bed she wanted to use in the camper.  Laying her down and getting up to leave I feel a little hand grab hold of my sleeve.  "Can you sing to me?"

"Well what do you want me to sing?"

"A lullaby"

"What lullaby do you want me to sing?"

"I don't care, but a good one please."

"Okay. let me think of how this one goes."

She watches me as I think of the words and tune.

Humming the violins part where there are no lyrics I start to sing.

"Loo-li, loo-li, loo-li, lai-lay
Loo-li, loo-li, loo-li lai-lay

Lay down your head and I'll sing you a lullaby
Back to the years of loo-li lai-lay
And I'll sing you to sleep and I'll sing you tomorrow
Bless you with love for the road that you go

May you sail far to the far fields of fortune
With diamonds and pearls at your head and your feet
And may you need never to banish misfortune
May you find kindness in all that you meet

May there always be angels to watch over you
To guide you each step of the way
To guard you and keep you safe from all harm
Loo-li, loo-li, lai-lay

May you bring love and may you bring happiness
Be loved in return to the end of your days
Now fall off to sleep, I'm not meaning to keep you
I'll just sit for a while and sing loo-li, lai-lay

May there always be angels to watch over you
To guide you each step of the way
To guard you and keep you safe from all harm
Loo-li, loo-li, lai-lay, loo-li, loo-li, lai-lay

Loo-li, loo-li, loo-li, lai-lay
Loo-li, loo-li, loo-li lai-lay
Loo-li, loo-li, loo-li lai-lay
Loo-li, loo-li, loo-li lai-lay
Loo-li, lai-lay."

About half way through the song Lila had fallen asleep but I had kept going remembering the words that my mother had sung to me when I was young and innocent.

I had missed the footsteps leading up to the camper so when I stood up to leave Lila be I stepped out of the camper and looked over to see Steve leaning against the side.

"Hey, Steve didn't hear you walk up."

"That's fine. Why don't you ever sing around the rest of us? Not just while you were fixing the jet or something or while with kids?"

"Not a huge fan of being the center of attention. Plus I am sure Stark would laugh at me, also something I am not exactly fond of."

"Makes sense I suppose but you should at least try it. Even if Tony laughs I am almost 100% sure every one else would be amazed by your voice."
