dan howell sighed, falling back on his bed with a flump. he couldn't stop smiling. he looked up at the ceiling, his eyes shining with pure joy.

phil hadn't even noticed that he had stolen his jacket. dan grinned, wrapping his arms around himself so he was enveloped in phil's scent. surrounded by his stupid cologne that dan himself would never wear.

he heard shuffling in the bathroom and andy emerged, leaning on the doorframe with a toothbrush sticking out of his mouth. he gave dan a weird look that he couldn't quite place.

"is that phil's jacket?" he asked, his voice slightly muffled by the toothbrush, his brow furrowed. dan blushed.

"no."

andy raised his eyebrows. "it says his name on the shoulder."

"then why did you ask?"

andy mumbled something incoherent, shuffling back into the bathroom. dan heard the sink running and he came back out, the toothbrush gone.

"did you fuck?"

dan's blush darkened and his eyes widened a bit.

"no-!"

he raised his bushy eyebrows again. "did you kiss?"

"n-no..."

he frowned. "then what did you do?"

"we hung out." dan bit his lip. "it's none of your business."

a knock came right after his words, and both of their eyes flew to the door. dan got out of bed as it didn't seem andy planned on answering.

dan gasped when his eyes landed on phil the second he opened the door. somehow he looked even more attractive than he had an hour before.

"hey," phil mumbled, breathless. dan could feel the blush creeping up his neck.

"hi..."

"i forgot something," phil breathed. oh. he came for his jacket.

before dan could take it off and hand it to him reluctantly, phil leaned in, grabbing his chin and dragging him into a slow kiss.

and there was that feeling again, that burning, that burst of emotions in dan's stomach... it wasn't unpleasant, and it felt like something he could get addicted to.

dan whimpered, touching his face, trying to memorize his features. his light stubble, the way his cheekbones curved in and his jaw led back to his neck, his soft cheeks. phil grabbed his waist and pulled him against him, and dan squeaked.

after a moment phil pulled back, breathing heavily, his cheeks dusted in a pretty rose color.

"s-sorry..."

he flashed him a crooked grin, looking a bit dazed, and in an instant he was gone.

dan bit his lip, watching him leave for a second before closing the door.

he was met with andy giving him an incredulous look. dan shrugged. he didn't owe him a single thing.

"i was thinking, like, clichés."

the word cliché still made dan blush, especially when it was phil he was talking to, but he powered through it.

"yeah?" phil was wearing his glasses today, and his hair was messy. dan's eyes kept wandering over his face, down his neck, over his chest... "like what?"

"like... um..." tap tap tap. phil was bouncing a pencil on the table. it was distracting. "like body language clichés. like... hunching your shoulders and avoiding eye contact means you don't want to talk, and h-hugging yourself would mean you're nervous."

phil hummed. dan's eyes flew to his lips on their own accord.

"and flirting would be smirking, and you know, swaying your hips and stuff?"

"yeah, exactly."

phil nodded, meeting his eyes. "i like it." he paused. "how would you say 'i wanna kiss you again but i'm too nervous you didn't actually like it'?"

dan stopped in his tracks, his heart skipping a beat.

"is that a question, or...?"

phil was looking at him in a way that made dan's stomach flip. "yeah."

"umm..."

dan roughly repeated what he had said in what he figured it would mean, using facial expressions and his hands. phil laughed.

"what?" dan asked defensively.

"you're cute, that's all."

dan stuck his tongue out at him and phil laughed again. they got shushed.

"okay, so... now that i've taught you my ways," dan teased. "h-how do you think you would say... i liked it a lot?"

phil grinned. he did what dan had in an only somewhat mocking way, smiling wide. dan held a hand over his mouth to muffle his giggle.

"you look dumb."

"you did too!"

dan bit his lip, looking down and letting his hair fall in his eyes. "okay, it was kind of a silly idea."

"it wasn't." phil reached out and lifted his face with two fingers under his chin. "i really like it, dan. i mean it."

"yeah?" dan felt breathless just from the simple touch. god, he was such a child. phil nodded.

"yeah." he beamed. "how would you say... are we gonna talk about it in normal language or just avoid the subject?"

dan laughed. "i think that might be translated in a kiss."

phil raised his eyebrows. "oh yeah?"

"definitely."

"right now? in the library? i mean, i'm not complaining, but..."

dan rolled his eyes, grabbing phil's collar and pulling him into a brief kiss. phil's eyes were wide when he pulled back and he grinned, leaning in to kiss him again, sliding his hand back to tangle in his hair.

they stayed that way until the librarian yelled at them and they had to go outside.
