dan howell felt anxious. he had been feeling anxious all day, and he felt as if it probably wouldn't end any time soon.

phil had texted him to ask him out, but he hadn't provided any details, just a when and where to meet him. dan had accepted even though everything in him burned with shot nerves.

if their first date had meant anything, dan felt like this would go just as wrong. even though he had had a good time overall, he still knew he had fucked up phil's plans.

he just hoped he could keep it together this time.

surprisingly enough, katie didn't bother him about anything. of course he had told her, he basically told her everything at this point, but she hadn't said a single word other than that dan had to describe absolutely every detail after. dan chose his own outfit; a black sweater and ripped jeans; and got ready by himself.

andy was looking at him weird, but there wasn't a single time he didn't. dan didn't think too much of it. he ignored him.

what, andy? don't think it's likely i'd ever get a date?

by now dan was sure the news that phil had gone out with him after the break up with eva had spread, but he didn't care as long as phil didn't.

dan's phone buzzed and he grabbed it off the bed, biting his lip.

ready?

dan smiled.

ready xx

he hesitated before grabbing a beanie that had planets on it, pulling it on over his waves of hair before slipping out the door.

phil had told him to meet him at the football field parking lot. dan jogged over, grateful for the tiny bit of exercise. he had forgotten to run the past few days.

dan felt like he was doing... better. at least a little. of course, the thoughts were still there- not good enough, too fat, jesus, he probably thinks you're disgusting- he doubted they would ever go away. but now they were slightly muted as long as dan didn't offer them any attention or room in his mind to grow.

dan saw phil's truck in the dimly lit parking lot and smiled, walking the rest of the way over to him. phil was leaning against the door, wearing a fitting jean jacket that dan didn't think he'd ever seen him in before. he was also wearing his glasses, which made dan's heart flutter.

"hi," he said softly, approaching him. phil beamed, pulling his hands out of his pockets to touch his shoulder gently.

"hey." he smiled. "you ready?"

dan nodded, biting his lip. he allowed phil to open the passengers seat door for him, climbing in carefully. phil got in on the other side, his jacket rustling slightly.

"so," phil said as he started the car, looking over his shoulder to make sure there was no one he might hit. "this date is actually kind of a two part deal. a series, you could say. but i'll tell you about that later." he had a dumb half-grin on his face.

"um... alright."

phil flashed him a blinding smile. "how was your day?"
