Arlandria's father was resting down on a chair—his daughter overlooking him in silence. He struggled to find words. His voice shook when he eventually spoke, and with desperate, teary eyes, he gazed up upon the girl and shook his head. The words that came from his mouth were of their own tongue.
"I can't believe it, but I always wanted to. When the accident occurred, I was told you disappeared. We assumed the worst. Everything came to an end that day, Arlandria. I've hardly left my home."
She lowered her head, and locked her fingers together before her lap. "I didn't mean to worry you, father."
Yaelos stood up, and without words, he wrapped his arms tightly around her body for a warm embrace she hadn't felt in what felt like ages. It was the kind of hug one could only expect from a parent. She wanted to be strong, but she didn't need to be, so tears came rolling down her cheeks to be dried by her father's welcoming hand.
"I didn't want to lose you," he muttered. "Not like her."
"I know, father. But I'm well."
"What happened exactly?"
"It was Tyreth. He constructed a portal to Earth, but it broke. The resulting explosion sent me falling to the surface, but I managed to absorb much of the impact, though I was injured and exhausted. That's when Eldrian found me, father. He saved me."
His brow fell. "Tyreth. That madman. I never thought he'd go through with it, but I'm the fool. I should have expected it. He really is going to do it."
The door slid open to almost no sound. Out of it stepped Eldrian, now garbed in his normal attire, with the sleeve stitched back together. He made his way into a gorgeous living room where his friend and her father resided. It seemed like they were mid-conversation, so he waited, as he also had no idea what they were saying.
Yaelos' eyes turned over. "You're dressed," he spoke in English.
"Yeah. Thanks for everything."
"You saved my daughter's life. For that, I wished to repay a debt. My name is Yaelos, and I am the father of Arlandria. She was never meant to be sent to your world, but I appreciate you aiding in her return. Now you must do the same to your world. Return. This is no place for outsiders."
"What about Tyreth?"
"We're not meant to interfere with Earth. Now that he's there, he'll need to be stopped by your own people before he—Well, before he hurts anybody else."
"It seems like you already interfered if Tyreth is there. So now it's just our problem? That's fine. We'll stop him then. But the least you can do is tell me what he's planning."
"I don't believe I need to speak of anything more than I already have. Now please return to the portal that brought you here, and travel back to Earth."
Eldrian snapped back. "No way! If you know what he's doing there, you telling me could save the lives of a lot of humans, you know. I don't think he's scared to kill."
"He's right, father," Arlandria spoke up.
Her father hung his head. It shook side-to-side, and a somber silence overtook him. He looked to his daughter before him, and thought deeply. One hand raised to rest over Arlandria's shoulder as he steadied his nerves.
"My daughter," he started, once again in his native tongue. "There's something I've regretted not telling you, but I've feared the result. I worried you'd turn out to be just like him. It's about your mother."
"I already know," Arlandria said, clear as day, in English.
Yaelos was shocked, both by her response meant for Eldrian to hear, and her confident tone. He stayed motionless for a moment. Slowly, he retreated his hand, but he was unable to speak before Arlandria said something more.
