I sighed irritatedly.
Since we sort of had plans for a gala, all we needed now were beautiful little touch-ups to everything. Touch-ups like accessories, which choked me and cut off my circulation. I didn't like or enjoy anything one bit.
"Biana, would you quit... trying to choke me?!" I yelled, squirming around the huge shawl around my neck. The word I was looking for was closer to strangle, but I figured that would be too harsh. Biana huffed. "Fine! Look ugly for all I care!" she burst out, stamping her foot. I rolled my eyes and stood up. "Fine then. I'll look ugly for the Gala."
I almost turned purple trying to hold in my laughter when I saw Biana turn oh-so-pale until she grabbed my shoulder and dragged me back down saying, "My reputation will not be ruined! No, no, nope, never, no." she said firmly.
After she had dragged me up at least what felt like seven flights of long, winding, stairs, she dropped me. Although halfway up the flight of stairs I had considered just using telekinesis and nope-ing out of there, I decided to just obey the girl. Biana could be scary when she wanted to be. "Ow..." I whined, rubbing my shoulder. Biana huffed at me and she threw a red dress at me. "Go in the bathroom and change." she ordered. I really didn't feel like getting dragged again, so I begrudgingly obeyed.
-
I walked out, slumping visibly. Biana took one look at me then did what sounded like a squeal. "You look perfect!! But your hair! Your poor, poor hair!" she said, stomping to me and brushing my hair back behind my ear with her hand. Combing her hand through my hair, she clicked her tongue disapprovingly as a tangle restricted further movement for her hand. I looked at her and squirmed away. "Hm.. I'll need to fix this..." she murmured, tugging at a loose strand of red thread. "You sound like a disappointed mom!" I complained, my head still aching from that painful tangle. Biana rolled her eyes and grinned playfully. "Of course, Sophie, this all for you," she replied.
I looked down at her and scowled. "Can I go change now?" I asked impatiently. She rolled her eyes. "Fine. Go–" She didn't have to tell me twice. I sprinted to the huge bathroom and wiggled out of the dress and tugged on my clothes. That's when I heard the muffled conversation.
I scrambled to put on my shoes and I slipped out to sneak out of the drama which was happening outside, but I couldn't help but eavesdrop just a little bit...
I peeked out the corner and saw Keefe and Biana arguing. About... What? I squinted, believing that it would help me hear better. Then I stopped because I realized how ridiculous that was. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath then listened.
"Keefe, I know very well that you worked hard on these invitations, right?" Biana said softly. "Yeah, why?" Keefe asked. Sophie could heard Biana exhale. "Well, I love the hearts and flowers and stuff, and how they're, um, nicely drawn, but..."
Biana faltered, and Sophie opened her eyes to see Biana's eyes flicker back and forth between Keefe and the invitations.
"...The handwriting is kind of off, you know?" Biana continued. "Well, what do you want me to do about it?" Keefe asked grumpily. "Well, I mean, I can try to fix it, but next time could you be more careful–" Biana began tenderly. "Yeah, well, I mean, I tried, is that not enough for you, little miss perfect?" Keefe snapped suddenly. Biana was obviously taken aback, and Sophie could see in in her movement and reflected in her teal eyes. "Fine, okay. Geez, you don't have to be so harsh, Keefe. What's wrong with you nowadays?" Biana asked, obviously masking her growing frustration.
"Nothing, Biana. Just kindly leave me alone, if you really like me."
Keefe's words seemed to slice through Biana, and it even sliced through Sophie. What is he saying? she asked herself.
"Keefe!" Biana said, shocked. "What? I'm just stating the truth," Keefe said carelessly. "but seriously though, I tried. I really did. I think it's fine, personally, so you don't have to worry about anything besides your appearance in the gala." he said, sounding more apologetic. That sounded more harsh than reassuring.
Apparently, it did to Biana, too.
Biana snapped.
"Yeah, well, you know what I think? I think that you're acting very inconsiderate and rude nowadays with no cause! You haven't been talking to me lately, and just going out and drawing and stuff. Your performance has dropped, and even if you were busy, why does it look like you didn't care about those invitations. Even if you didn't do well with those, at least make some time for me!" Biana shot, hurt seeping into her voice.
"Yeah, well, sorry about that, little miss perfect. I'm afraid I can't do all that at once. And for your information, I tried on these invitations." Keefe snapped.
Biana looked like she wanted to claw his throat out. I knew I had to do something, but I couldn't bring myself to move towards the raging couple. "Oh, me? Little miss perfect? I mean, I'd love to be perfect, but I know very well that I'm not, unlike someone I know," Biana scoffed. A rustle of paper could be heard as Biana threw the invitations at Keefe. Keefe took in a sharp inhale, and I decided this was the time to step in.
I took a deep, calming breath and I stepped back at least a yard, pretending to have just arrived. "Hey guys–" I began, pretending to be shocked at the way they were facing each other; they were in a stance and their teeth were literally bared. I looked at Keefe, then Biana.
"Um, guys? What happened here?" I asked, inching away. They stared at me or a moment. "Oh, nothing, Foster!" Keefe said, sounding suspiciously overly cheerful. I stared at him then Biana. "Well, this jerk decided to–" I cut her off with a wave of my hand, and she shut her mouth.
I pivoted to look at Keefe. "I know what happened." I said coldly. They stared at me with shocked eyes. I shot a soft look at Biana, then a hard one at Keefe. "So, lying to me, huh, Keefe?" I said sharply. He looked desperate. "No, Sophie, it's just–" I cut him off with a glare.
"Come on, Biana. He has no right to treat you like this." I said, grabbing her hand. "But she was the one who started to act like a jerk, anyway!" Keefe protested. I spun on my heel and glared at him. "But look who's acting like one now." I snarled. Keefe looked genuinely shocked at my words and actions, and honestly, I was too.
Biana stared at me like I was crazy but didn't hesitate when I dragged her with me to somewhere. I snatched my hand back and huffed, crossing my arms.
I remembered the time when I liked Keefe. I wanted him to ask me out, like me back. Even after Fitz asked Linh, I was so very desperate. But now, I wasn't so sure. Biana stared at me. "Sophie, are you alright?" She asked. I turned my gaze to her and she shivered. "Fine." I whispered hoarsely.
Biana looked at me, concerned, and then she turned around. Hesitating, she turned back around to glance at me once more before clearing her throat. "Gala is in three days. I will take care of the invitations." she said sharply, nodding to me in gratefulness.
Then, she walked out, leaving me in my confusing fury.
lol idk if this even makes sense or not anymore XD
