~ Your POV ~

Your eyes struggle to open, your eyelids feel too heavy. You try to lift your hands to attempt to rub your eyes, but a searing pain shoots up both of your arms, causing you to recoil and hiss.
"Shhh, hey, hey, it's alright, you're ok, Im right here." A soft voice lulls you into feeling calm again, and the voice is one you instantly recognise. Ethan.
You blink rapidly, before turning your head to face him "E-Ethan?Wh-What!?!"
Your head snaps around wildly as your eyes scan the room, and as soon as you realise where you are, your eyes fill with tears. Hurrying to blink the tears back, you look down at yourself, and see the new bandages wrapped around your wrists, which have drips attached to them. This time, no matter how hard you blink, you cant hold back your tears.
"Oh my god Ethan, Im s-so sorry!" You cry, tears streaming from your eyes.
Ethan shakes his head and takes your hand in his, squeezing it gently "Shh (Y/N), it's ok, everything's ok, Im right here. Im just so glad I got to you when I did...to think that I could have lost you last week-" He shakes his head "-I cant even imagine what I would've done."
You sniffle and raise an eyebrow at him "Y-You...You would've noticed if I was gone?"
Ethan stares at you in disbelief, as though he cant believe what he just heard you say "Of course! (Y/N), I care about you so much, and so does everyone else at the restaurant, Im sure your family and friends all do too."
You laugh shakily "Everyone at the restaurant cared so much about me that they got me fired, and I have no friends or family at all Ethan, I have nobody."
Ethan's expression softens "(Y/N), nobody wanted you out of the job. If you'd told me, or anyone else, that you were going through all these thoughts and feelings, we could've offered you some help, or at the very least some support to make things easier for you."
You nod and look away from him "I know, that's why I didnt tell you. I dont want people wasting their time caring and worrying about me, Im not worth that." You quickly change the subject "Earlier, you said you could've lost me last week...have I been unconscious all week?"
Ethan clears his throat "Yeah, you've been unconscious for 6 days."
You stare at the ward door curiously "Why are you still here? Shouldnt you be at work?"
He squeezes your hand "I've been here every single day, for as long as I can, to try and make sure I was here when you woke up."
You turn back to him "Why?"
Ethan smiles warmly "I didnt want you waking up alone in a hospital, I can only imagine how scary that would be."
Tears prick your eyes "Y-You've come here...everyday?"
He nods, as if it isnt a big deal "Yeah, of course, I wanted you to wake up with me here so that you know, despite what your thoughts are telling you, I care about you a lot, and I want you to stay here. You matter, (Y/N). You have always mattered to me, and you always will."
Your tears spill down your cheeks, and your bottom lip begins to wobble.
Without any further hesitation, Ethan climbs onto your hospital bed beside you, and very carefully pulls you into his arms. He rocks you back and forth, placing a few delicate kisses on the top of your head, and although you cant remember him ever holding you this way, the feeling is oddly familiar.
"As I was the person who brought you in, the doctors explained what your recovery process will be, and you wont be able to do it alone. You need to have someone living with you for a while, making sure you're ok and helping you out with anything you need, because your blood loss means you could go dizzy or collapse at any moment. You need to have someone with you who has been taught how to care for you, like a live-in nurse." Ethan explains in a quiet voice.
You sigh "I guess I'll have a nurse living on the streets with me then, as without a job I wont be able to pay for my apartment much longer. Living on the streets with a stranger, that sounds like a real adventure!" You comment sarcastically.
Ethan chuckles "Dont worry, your live-in nurse wont be a stranger."
You sit up to face Ethan and frown at him "What do you mean? I already told you Ethan, I have no friends or family, there's no way I know anybody in this hospital."
He grins cheesily "Exactly! That's why, for the past six days, I've asked the nurses to teach me everything I need to know about caring for you."
Your jaw drops "Ethan...no, you cant be serious!"
He beams at you "Im fully educated on caring for you, I know what to do if you collapse or feel dizzy, I can help you clean and re-bandage your wounds if you're comfortable with that, and I'll gladly help with anything else you need!"
You try to swallow the lump in your throat "B-But, E-Ethan..."
Ethan takes your hand and intertwines your fingers with his "I was going to ask if you wanted to stay at my place for a while, just until you feel better, but considering you just said you wont be able to afford your apartment much longer...do you think you'd be willing to deal with my stupid ass for a more permanent residency?"
Not knowing what to say, or how to properly react to what you just heard, you fling yourself at him at full force, wrapping your arms around his neck and burying your face in his shoulder, ignoring the searing pain that shoots up your arms when you move them.
"There's no point in arguing with you on this, because Im fully aware of how stubborn you are, so I'll just say this: Thank you, Ethan. You brought me back to a world I didnt want to be in, and you've given me a reason you stay." You mumble quietly.
Ethan gently squeezes your body in his arms "And I promise to show you all the other reasons for you to stay here, in every way that I can, for as long as you can put up with me."
You giggle "You'll be sticking around for a long time then?"
Ethan laughs and nods into your hair "Awh HELL yeah!"
