CHAPTER 4

Have patience and learn to ignore things especially bad people around you.

Mummy's rule no.2 echoed in my head and I bit my tongue hard just to refrain myself from speaking. I generally don't argue or fight but when I am offended, I retaliate in the best way possible just to let the other person know I can speak as well. And here I was trying hard to ignore this guy next to me who waas just passing rude and mean comments every now and then. I could have responded but Mummy had this strange fear always in her mind that I shouldn't be picking up arguments or fight like these. She believes you don't know what is going in another person's head. Her worst fear is someone plotting revenge on you and I completely understand her fears. She is a mother of two daughters and all these insecurities and fears keep bubbling in her head.

But that didn't stop me from boring holes in his skull. I don't like him already and I have to bear him for 90 minutes.

"Good morning class. I am Professor Keith Brooke and I will be taking your accounts." A man probably in his late thirties walked in the class with immense energy. He was above 5 feet 10 inches and wore a light blue shirt neatly tucked in his black trousers with a black printed tie and I lifted my gazes up from that boy sitting next to me to my new professor as my enthusiasm was back again.

"So I welcome you all to The Business School Of London and I hope this year will be the best year of your life." He said and I smiled.

"Every year we get brilliant students from all over the world to our University and it's always great to teach and interact with the brilliant students all across the globe. So how many of you are from other countries aside from the EU." He said smilingly and I started to grow nervous. Not many hands were raised, just two and I hesitated to lift the third one but eventually, I did.

"Oh great, so we have three international students. So what's your name and where are you from?" He asked one of the guys sitting in the front rows.

"I am Carter Smith and I'm from Australia." He said confidently in his thick accent and sat back on his seat.

"Welcome to Britain Mr Smith. Australia is a beautiful place. A place with Kangaroos." He said while scanning the class and then his eyes landed on me making me hell nervous. "And you Ms.?" He asked politely. I gingerly stood up because that's what we do while talking to our teachers.

"Umm....I am Kavya Arora and I...I am from India." I stuttered as I spoke in a class of more than 50 students and everyone has their eyes fixed on me.

"India? Wow...it's so good to have an Indian student here. I have heard a lot about that country." He said and I smiled.

"Please sit down Ms Arai..."

"Arora." I helped him.

"Aroara...I hope I pronounced it right." He said and the entire class chuckled which made me more nervous than I already was. I chewed my lips nervously and sat down.

"So whose next...yes...so where are you from?" Mr Brook moved ahead of me and asked another girl who looked East Asian.

"Indian huh?" A sudden deep voice startled me and I look beside me. That guy was looking at me weirdly and I shifted uncomfortably back in my seat.

"Y-yes."

"Explains why you are such a weirdo." He said and my mouth hanging open. I am not the one weird, he is the one being weird here.

"Excuse me? Will you please elaborate what's so weird about me?" I asked him and he looked up in front with a smug smile.

"Excuse you and I would love to elaborate but I would sum it up in one word and that's everything." He said stifling a yawn and without even looking at me and I felt more offended than I already was.
