Screams.
Tiny painful screams.
That's the only thing that fills the white empty hallways of the hospital.
The babe was having surgery that most don't endure at her age.
Crying
Her parents cry in the waiting room, knowing they can't do anything to subdue their child's growing pain.
Shattering
The only thing the parents hear over their child's blood-curdling screeches.
The sounds of their own hearts shattering into millions of pieces.
The crying dies down and the surgery is finished.
The couple runs to their baby's side only to not recognize her.
Her eye swollen, bruised and bloodied. She looked as if she just fought a pro wrestler.
This was not their sweet innocent baby girl, this was a child who has suffered a lot already but nothing compared to what comes next.
