Lilah awoke to find Jonathan was already gone. Letting her eyes close, she smiled lightly despite the awful night she'd endured. Jonathan had stayed up with her while she cried, he didn't speak, but she at least knew he was there for her. Letting her eyes rest for only a few more seconds, she quickly sat up, jumping out of the bed and running out of the room. I will be seeing Lawton tomorrow. The words echoed in her head as she sprinted through the house, heading towards the basement. Upon reaching it, she slammed her fists against the door, that had been locked from the inside,

"Jonathan?!" She cried through the door, she could hear muffled voices of multiple men. Is he torturing Floyd? She wondered as she continued to slam her fists against the wooden door. The minutes went by and she continued to scream out Jonathan's name, her fists becoming red and sore from the repeated blows to the door, she would never forgive Jonathan if he used his gas on Floyd. She had her reasons for keeping Floyd alive... even if he was responsible for Mercious's death. Eventually the door flew open and Lilah saw that she had actually broken the lock, running down the stairs, the voices grew louder as did Floyd's groans of pain as she turned into the room, she saw two men who had rather large baseball bats that hit Floyd, Jonathan on the other hand was nowhere in sight. As she moved into sight, the two men, looked over their shoulders at her, before going back to hitting Floyd,

"Stop!" She cried angrily as she strode towards the pair. The men both ignored her, but had thankfully stopped hitting Floyd who was bloodied and bruised, but upon seeing her, he did something she didn't expect, he smiled. "I'll kill you both if you hit him again." She threatened. The first man looked at her with a snide expression,

"I'm not scared of you. Get in my way and you'll be next." He threatened, turning his back on her and raising the bat above his head, preparing to hit Floyd once more, the second man followed his lead. Without a word, Lilah moved forward, wrapping her arms around Floyd's neck, her body pressed against his, she could feel the sweat and blood that covered him and she could hear his slow breaths. She was curious to see if the man would go through with his threat, in fact, she hoped that he would.

"You asked for it." The man smirked, but before he could swing, Lilah spoke,

"Go ahead. Let's see how Jonathan likes it when he finds out you did this to me." She growled. The man paused, he was scared of Jonathan and rightfully so and after a few more seconds of silence, they placed the bats down, "Out!" She cried bitterly at them and without another word, the two men exited, leaving Lilah alone with Floyd, releasing him from her hold, she looked at him. Floyd returned a weak smirk, a trail of blood running down the side of his face, but it didn't seem to faze him,

"All that for me?" He asked sarcastically, his eyes closing. Lilah crossed her arms,

"They had no right to hurt you." She answered, "Only I have that right." Opening his eyes, he smiled,

"Keep talking dirty like that and I might just ask you to." He grinned. Lilah rolled her eyes,

"You're a pig." She growled. Floyd laughed weakly,

"Your Jonathan Crane is one hell of a guy." He said, somewhat of an impressed look on his face. Not that she needed his seal of approval when it came to Jonathan.

"So, he was here." She mused. Floyd nodded,

"That he was... and doesn't he hold quite the torch for you." He said, despite the condescension he attempted to speak with, Lilah could detect jealously in his tone,

"You're wrong." She answered, she knew Jonathan all to well and she was pretty sure that he wasn't capable of love or anything like that. Floyd laughed softly,

"And you're blind if you can't see that I'm right." Lilah was silent and Floyd continued, "Well, assuming that you really are as dumb as you look. It would be a fairly good time to let you know what's going down here in Gotham." He smirked. Lilah shifted lightly,

"Go on."

"Say please."

"Go on or I'll cut your tongue out." Lilah repeated, her expression neutral,

"There you go, talking dirty again." Lilah rolled her eyes and Floyd continued, he was enjoying himself, "Turns out there's something big going down here soon. Something that has a lot to do with your precious Jonathan Crane and some guy named Ra's al Ghul." He said

"What do I care?" Lilah snapped, "If you're worried about it, leave town." As her brown eyes set back onto Floyd, from the corner of her eye, she noticed something on his arm. Moving forward, eyes locked onto his arm, she pulled back his blue sleeve revealing a tattoo that said a single word, although it had no meaning to anyone else who would have read it, the word chilled her to the core. Floyd wasn't one for sentiment, yet, here she was reading the same word over and over,

'Lilah'

"Why do you have this?" She asked, brushing her fingertips over the tattoo. Looking back at Floyd, his expression was still smug,

"My lucky charm." he smirked, his eyes watching her cautiously as she continued to stare at her name,

"Why haven't you escaped yet?" she asked. The thought had crossed her mind, if he really was the World's Greatest Assassin, escaping from handcuffs would be simple,

"What do you mean?"

"You have the skill. Why haven't you escaped yet? Why did you let those men beat you?" She asked, pulling the key to the handcuffs out of her pocket and not daring to look him in the eye out of fear of what she might do.

"Escaping? Never even crossed my mind." He shrugged.

"Do you want to die?" She asked, forcing herself to look at him, "Is that it? No one who is called the 'World's Greatest Assassin' gets caught by someone like me. Or allows a couple of morons to beat him."

"If I wanted to die, I'd be dead already." Floyd said, "I don't want to die. I just don't care if I do." Letting her eyes meet his, she did something that she would surely regret the moment she did it, leaning forward, she ran her hands through his hair, pushing it out of his face for him. It was an excuse for contact that she didn't know she needed.

"I..." her words trailed off, Floyd's expression was serious, his eyes locked onto hers. Smiling, she allowed her hands to reach up to his wrists, unlocking the handcuffs before she stepped back. Letting his arms fall to his side, he rubbed each wrist gently, his eyes searching hers for an explanation, "Go." She ordered him, "Leave." Floyd said nothing, instead he slowly moved towards her, his arm brushing hers as he moved passed her and to the door. Not looking over her shoulder at him, she instead listened to his slow footsteps that become slower and slower until they could be heard no more, Was he finally gone? she wondered to herself. Turning on her heel, she came face to face with Floyd who in an instant, pulled her towards him, his lips colliding with hers. Wrapping her arms around his neck, she smiled behind the kiss. She needed him. She loved him...once. But she didn't want him. Pulling back, she set her eyes onto his,

"Come away with me." He whispered, pressing his lips against hers once more. Lilah's brow furrowed, his words made her heart break in ways she thought were not possible. Everything inside her screamed yes, but instead she said the opposite,

"I can't." Something held here to this house, no, not something, someone. Staring at her, Floyd smirked, giving her a small nod,

"Fair enough. I'll try again later." he said before he stepped back and was gone, leaving her more alone then ever.
