The feeling of weightlessness filled me. They say that your life flashes before your very eyes right before you die. It does, and it doesn't. It shows you those moments in your life that were the most important to you; whether that be good or bad. I saw my parents killed in front of me; I saw the day that I killed my first Werewolf; I saw the moment I laid eyes on Ariel, thinking about how much I already loved her. I flashed to the moment where I first met Amber, thinking about how much she had her dad wrapped around her little finger, or about how good of a future Luna she would make.

I remembered my mate's words on how she wanted to settle down and have pups. I remember that it was the same night before we left. Not even a day ago. I knew she was right, and I couldn't help but feel happy that even if we slowed everything down, between the hunting and everything, that nothing would change between us. Perhaps now was when life would catch up to me? I was already growing older, though being a hunter allowed me to appear and feel younger.

I just wanted to spend every last minute with my wonderful mate, no matter what would come our way. Time seemed to slow down, and I knew my hunter instincts were kicking in. I opened my eyes to see that the car was off the ground, and we were now almost facing the road. Without even thinking, I grabbed Ariel into my arms, telling myself over and over that this was not the end. No, I was far from it.

I hadn't been in this state of being for ages. Each time I used this little speed up ability it took a lot out of me. It never killed me but would leave me drained. I did it for an hour once and I was passed out for three days. When I did wake up, it took another three to actually move. I was incapacitated for nearly a month at that time.

My foot kicked open the door and I pulled my mate and me from the vehicle, landing hard onto the road. I looked up right before time sped up to see that no one else was in the jeep. Had Alex been able to get everyone out?

A flash of something seemed to stop the slow-down, and I had to wrap my arms around Ariel as tightly as I could to stop us from being thrown around too terribly. Once we were done rolling around, I looked over her. She was breathing heavily, her eyes squeezed shut.

"Are you okay?"

Her eyes opened, and they still took my breath away just as the day I first met her.

Ariel nodded. "F-Fine. What happened?"

I picked her off of the ground, holding her tightly. "I don't know. They somehow managed to flip the jeep."

She looked around. "What happened to the others?"

I shook my head. "I don't know. No one was in there when I got us out."

I looked briefly around the area. My mate's smoking vehicle was on its back, flames licking out from around the undercarriage.

"Dammit... I loved that Jeep," she whined.

"It needed new tires anyway."

Ariel elbowed me in the stomach, then started walking to where a few bags were thrown from the vehicle. "Asshole."

I couldn't help but snicker, following close behind her.

I groaned as I opened my eyes, keeping my arms tight around Paige. Pain laced through my arms when I tried to sit up. I looked them over to see that they were burned and bloody looking. I remember hearing the tire of the car pop before being sucked out by some unseen force. The flame seemed to leap out all around us, but I held tight, shielding my mate from the blast. I lost conscious afterward, not knowing where we were as of that moment. I looked over Paige who was still unconscious, relieved to find that she was unscathed.
