When we wake up that morning its shift day. The first one since loosing Dawson.

Casey decides not to say anything about the baby until he is sure.

Casey and me are already dressed and shay hasn't come down yet so I go up to get her.

I bang on her door loudly and say. "Shay come on let's go. Get up!" she doesn't answer. Dang. I open the door and she's dead asleep. "Man,get up shay" I shake her shoulder. "Huh? she says tiredly. "get.up. It's shift today"

"Oh. Okay. I'll be right there." she say her eyes still closed.

She does come down 5 minutes later in black sweat pants and a white t shirt.

We drive to 51. And you can feel it's a little different.

"Hey Cruz" Casey says.

"Morning lutentint"he says

They walk in together. And me and shay walk in together.

"So shay who do you think your new p.i.c is?" I ask

"Umm I don't know but I heard at the funeral it could be some guy named chout. they say he worked here before"

"Oh god good luck with him"

"What? he can't be that bad"

"You just wait shay you just wait"

We go different ways. I go to change and she goes to the common room.

After everyone changed chief calls everyone into the conference room.

"So welcome back everyone. Since Gabriella Dawson has passed and can't be here With us we have a new p.i.c here at 51. chout is back. Give him another warm 51 welcome. Shay my office"

shay looks at me like a great what did I do know kinda look.

"Your all dismissed" he says. But No one leaves buy him and Shay, to his office

It's really quiet. I say "guys. Guess what"

They all look at me like "what did Severide do this time"

They all shrug their shoulders.
"So you know that girl I've been seeing."

"Yeah. She's cute" Otis says.

"Yeah I know. Well we just found out..in going to be a dad"

"What?!" They all say with raised eyebrows.

"I'm going to have a baby." Look,i show them the pregnancy test.

"Congrats Kelly!" Herman says.

I smile.

Everyone joins in after that saying congrats and being happy for me.

Slowly they walk out and we all settle in.

I'm chilling with my men at our squad table and I hear Hermann call me.

"Oh lutenint severide!" he calls.
