The car door slammed and I winced slightly, before glancing over at Erik. He still radiated fury and I kept quiet, hoping not to spark a fire that was ready to spread.

"Try and take my company away" he muttered to himself as he started the engine to his 2018 Mustang.

The sound roared and I almost died, having grown up with a father that adored cars with good sound.

"Mr Rycroft, can I ask what the text was?" I asked, wincing slightly.

What a stupid question to ask.

"Tryelle Enterprises has offered me a deal, to take over my company" he replied, his hand tightening on the wheel.

"Why would they do that? They're in a completely different industry?" I asked confused.

"I am very well aware of that, Aviana" he replied curtly.

I shut my mouth as we drove out of the undercover garage.
His grip was tight on the steering wheel and I wracked my brain to say something that could ease his tension.

Nothing come to mind. We sped down the long highway, the sun blaring rown on the city. "Have you heard from the potential candidate yet?" I asked, tapping my knee with my index finger.

It was something I always did when sitting down, his eyes glanced at it.
"I have, he's sending over the files and we should have them by Tuesday next week" he replied, his gruff.

"Awesome! I shall be on the look out for those" I replied.

He kept glancing at my tapping finger but I looked away, staring out the window again.

I shifted my legs and out of the corner of ny eye, I saw him glance at me. I fought to keep the smile off my face.

"So this Fabian Tryelle, what's he like?" I asked, continuing the conversation.

"He's good at what he does, the Tryelle Enterprise is vast and slightly bigger than mine, different fields of operation though" he replied.

We turned into a small side street. "I know that, but if he's doing that? Why would he be interested in oil and gas?" I asked, as we drove under cover.

The inside of the car went dark. "That's what we're here to find out" he replied.

He parked the car, opening his door. The interior light came on, igniting us. "I would ask you to be quiet unless spoken to but you'll probably be the one that gets us what we want" he said, climbing out of the car.

Gratitude washed over me as I scrambled to follow him. "How so?" I asked, closing the car door.

Erik locked it, a resounding beep loud in the empty carpark. "I hate to say it, but you're scarier than me" he said before chuckling.

We had walked over to the entrance way and pressed the button on the elevator. "I'll take that as a compliment" I replied.

He chuckled again. The elevator doors opened and a crowd moved towards us, pushing me into Erik's chest. He caught me as the employees stared at us weirdly.

He took my elbow and led me into the now empty elevator. His touch burned my elbow and I glanced down, wondering if he was holding a match.

He realised he was still touching me and dropped his arm. Erik leaned forward and pressed the top floor. The elevator jolted and I slammed by back against the wall as it statted to lift slowly.

Erik pinched the bridge of his nose. "I really hope I can tell him where to shove his proposition" he muttered to himself.

The elevator stopped suddenly, making us jolt again. The doors didn't open and a red light clicked on.
Panic rose within me.

I didn't do small spaces in long periods of time. "Are we stuck?" I exclaimed.

Erik nodded. "Yes" he replied as he pressed the help button.

I slid down the wall and sat on the floor, trying to keep my breathing even. "Are you okay? You look as white as a ghost?" Erik asked, concerned.

Nodding, I looked up at him. "I don't do small spaces" I replied, meekly.

He pressed the help button again before unbuttoning his jacket. Leaning against the wall, I snuck a glance at his body.

So the rumours were true. He was build like a Greek God. I shivered, pulling my phone out of my bag.

"Damn it, what kind of elevator cuts of the wifi stream?" I asked, glancing at my no bars.

Erik checked his phone too. I threw my useless phone back into my bag. "How long do you believe we'll be stuck?" I asked, glancing at my box.

I rubbed my arms for warmth. A look passed across his face and he took his jacket off. Without a word, he passed it to me. I took it surprised.

"Can't have you freezing on me" he said, the corner of his mouth lifting up.

I smiled and pulled in his jacket. Oh god, he smelt amazing. His scent enveloped me and I had to fight every fibre in me to bury my nose into the fabric.
He was scrolling through something on his phone.

"So how do you find the company?" I asked tugging the jacket tighter.

He looked up from his phone, Erik's eyes slightly widening as he took me in. "I plan to improve it" he replied, clearing his throat.

Erik shifted, uncomfortable so I patted the spot next to me. "Park your ass because it looks like we are here for a while" I said.

He chuckled and moved towards me, sitting down next to me. "So what made you take the assistant job?" He asked, running a hand through his dark hair.

"Oh I really love assisting and getting coffee orders" I replied sarcastically.

Erik laughed, a deep hearty sound that sunk into my bones. "I could almost believe you" he gasped out.

I grinned as he laughed. "What would I do without you" he muttered as he controlled his laughing.

"Hire a new assistant and then realise that no one will ever be as good as me" I replied, smiling.

He rolled his eyes. "Well that's true" he replied.
