Mistletoe - Shouto Todoroki X Reader

Mistletoe.  

'It just had to be mistletoe, didn't it?' You thought, staring up at the small green decoration that hung above the door frame. Todoroki looked up at the same time you did, then stole a glance at you. Your face was nearly as red as the Christmas sweater you were currently wearing. Nearly. "W-We don't have to do this if you don't want to..." You mumbled, head turned away from him. Too embarrassed to look at him.

Todoroki just stood there, looking back up at the mistletoe. His face showed no sign of emotion. You had no idea what could be going through his mind.

Until he finally spoke.

"Do what?" He asked inquisitively, his one eyebrow arched, and he reached a hand up to gently brush the mistletoe with his fingers. You were confused for a moment before it dawned on you that Todoroki did not know what a mistletoe was, or what two people were supposed to do when they ended up under one. Your entire situation had just gotten even more embarrassing than it had previously been.

'Gosh how did I even end up like this?' You thought, traveling back through your memories.

"Are we walking to school together this morning (y/n)?" Your brother Izuku asked you. You were twins, born minutes apart from each other, you being the younger one. How unlucky it was though that both of you had turned out to be quirkless. When Izuku confided in you about how he was going to apply to UA, you supported him, and decided you might as well try too. You were one of the top students, just below Katsuki Bakugou, and with a natural talent for the arts and crafts.

It was surprising when not only Izuku had been accepted, but you as well. Although he was going into the hero course, while you would be entering into general studies.

"We can, since today you aren't busy with your training, or running late." You remarked with a giggle.

Through the months of your time at UA you'd made lots of new friends, although most happened to be in the hero course with your brother. You liked the students in general studies. But your fascination with quirks led you to continuously show up to classroom 1-A whenever you were able to. It didn't help that you were used to being around your twin so much, that you didn't like being by yourself much.

Through your friendships in the hero course you learned a lot about yourself, and how to defend yourself due to all the hero training you learned secondhand from your friends. You also happened to develop a crush on a certain boy. You noticed him well before, his white and red hair led him to stand out amongst his peers, you'd even exchanged a few words to each other. Until the sports festival.

The sports festival is when you took notice of him in other aspects, rather than the idea of friendship. It was a hopeless little crush you continued to tell yourself. The sports festival, although sad because of the injuries Izuku inflicted upon himself, was good in the end because he helped Todoroki accept his quirk. And in turn, accept his classmates as friends. He opened himself up to people and grew to express more emotion and thought when it came to his conversations with everyone.

The two of you happened to grow quite close over the months, and eventually the year came to an end and the second year had started. Your measly little crush had gone from being small and insignificant, to the point where you were unsure of whether it was a crush still, or if you happened to be falling in love with your best friend.

You popped into 2-A just like usual, greeting everyone with a good morning before pulling up a chair to chat before the bell rang, signalling your time to go back to your own classroom.

"(y/n)! I'm glad you're here! Yaoyorozu was just talking about hosting a Christmas party at her house, a final get together before we all split up and spend Christmas with our families. You're going right?" Denki Kaminari asked, plopping down in a seat beside you while draping an arm over your shoulder. He was flirty, but he knew to not try his usual things with you, lest he have Izuku and Todoroki coming after him.

"(y/n)-Chan you got to go!" Mina chimed, placing her hands on your shoulders and shaking you gently. "Okay okay! I'll go!" You agreed with a laugh. You found out later at lunch that Todoroki and the rest of the class would also be going. Thankfully.

You and Izuku had decided to match for the party, an old twin thing that stuck sometimes. Both wearing black jeans, his nice and neat while yours were ripped slightly, and a red Christmas sweater that lit up when you pushed a button. "You look great (y/n)." Todoroki had told you when he seen your outfit, a small smirk of amusement pulling on the corners of his mouth.

You pulled yourself from your thoughts, if you had known how awkward things would become you might have decided against going to the party.

Noticing your hesitation to speak, Denki didn't fail to chime in as he walked past, "You're supposed to kiss under the mistletoe! It's the rules!" Which caused your face to burn crimson. You covered your cheeks with your hands. "We don't have to though! I-It's okay." You said, in case the thought of kissing you made Todoroki uncomfortable. He said nothing for a minute, and you didn't even notice his face inching closer to your own.

"But what if I would like to kiss you? Is that alright?" He asked, gently taking your hands away from your face and holding onto them. You could feel the cold from his one hand seeping into your skin, and the warmth from the other warming your own. You eyes widened in shock, mouth slightly agape in disbelief. "You want to kiss me?" You asked, not quite sure if you had heard him correctly or not.

"I would." He repeated. Letting go of your one hand and gently placing his left hand on your cheek, holding your face almost. The two of you slowly closed to distance, you standing on your tippy toes and him leaning down to mean half way. Lips pressing against one another delicately in a soft and sweet kiss.

The sound of cheering around you caused you to pull apart. "Finally!" Mina squealed, happily hugging Momo who stood next to her with a wide smile on her face. You guessed the two of them were the ones to place the mistletoe there. Izuku was there amongst the group too, giving you two thumbs up and a smile, he'd known about your feelings for awhile, he was usually oblivious, but not to you. You laughed awkwardly, "You guys were watching us?" You asked.

"Of course we were! We've been waiting for you two to finally get together since first year!" Mina informed you. "Well we're not technically together, it was just a kiss..." You mumbled. "(y/n)." Todoroki spoke up, causing you to turn back to face him. "What is it Shouto?" You asked. "Would you like to go out with me?" He asked, his eyes were shining as he looked at you and a smile was spreading across his cheeks.

You were shocked again that night, giving a small nod before answering with a yes, yes you would like to go out with him.

This caused more cheering.

You two spent the rest of the night chatting, and kissing here and there, when you knew you weren't being watched by your friends.
