Slowly, as Akira woke up, she started taking in her surroundings. The pale color wall, the beige themed vanity, the white curtains; she realized that she was in her bedroom. Letting her fingertips stroking her head, she tried to diminish the headache flowing.

Something seemed blurry.

She was in the hospital and she couldn't remember getting discharged. How is that possible?

The clock chimed eight a.m. letting her realize that she had college to attend. She doesn't even know how many days she has missed. Not wanting to increase the aggravating headache, she headed towards the washroom with a towel hanging on her shoulder. The cold water shivered her body but it felt like it was the least of her problems.

While drying her wet hair Akira tried to remember about yesterday or the day before or even the week before but there was no clear image in her mind. Panic struck her and she didn't like it.

She slung her bag on one shoulder and climbed down the stairs spotting Sameer and Maira eating in the kitchen.

"Hey..."

"Sam we should leave, we are going to be late."

Akira watched in awe as they both left their breakfasts and walked out of the room hurrying as fast as possible leaving her baffled. Tears prickled her eyes seeing her cousins ignoring her the moment she needed them the most. Sameer grabbed the car keys and shut the door with a loud thud leaving with his sister.

Her hunger and thirst died.

Food seemed like poison at the moment.

Akira locked the house and got into her car with a heavy heart. Her hand trembled when she inserted the key. She bit her lips to prevent tears from coming out and started driving.

Sameer and Maira's behavior were not normal at all. Maira was always like this, creating troubles, showing publicly that she doesn't like her but Sameer is different. His expression changed the moment his eyes fell on her and when Maira said to leave, he didn't hesitate or even ask her about her health or anything.

Arriving at college, she dried her eyes and applied mascara and foundation to hide her imperfections.

She stepped down of the car and walked inside the building but she didn't feel good at all. While strolling down the corridor to try to find at least one of her friend, she noticed other students looking at her. At first she thought it's probably because she was missing for a few days but gradually she figured out they were laughing at her.

Some would whisper in the ear of their friend and then looked at her with either disgust or a mocking face.

Gradually she was turning into the center of attention. Her feet started taking small strides voluntarily realizing the amount of eyes on her every actions. All of the sudden, she was body conscious. Was there something wrong with her green dress and black leggings?

Her eyes roamed on her body. There was nothing wrong then why was everyone glancing at her.

"Hi Akira, I'm sure last night was rocking, isn't it?"

A girl who she has never seen before in this college blocked her way with her two other friends, smiling at her. They were clearly mocking her but what they didn't know is that she remembered nothing from last night.

"I don't know what you're talking about," she spoke in her usual shy tone.

"Ohhh you have forgotten about it so easily. Wow girls, this is insane." The girl again made fun of her. "But don't worry; we are here to refresh your memory. Everyone step aside, the princess has arrived. Let's greet her with a warm welcome."

The girl grabbed her wrist and everyone obeyed her while cheering loudly. Akira's breathing turned rapid and shallow as the girl dragged her, walking in the middle while everyone was cheering, shouting her name, yelling like it's a festive moment.

Arriving at the cafeteria, the sound became louder. Almost half of the students at the college were present there. Akira feared she will trip anytime as the girl made her run down the stairs. Arriving in the middle, she let go of her hand and crossed her arms on her chest smirking at her.

There were times Akira wished she was invisible, blending in the crowd instead of staying in the spotlight.

"Look behind Akira," the girl said. She turned, feeling her legs shaking. Her eyes landed on a projector screen. Embarrassment covered her face as she watched the clip with furrowed eyebrows and teary eyes.

She was kissing Eshaan passionately. Hands resting on each other's face, lips mingling with each other, they were kissing.

The cheering became louder as everyone started surrounding her.

"Akira, Akira, Akira..." They chanted.
