The hidden truth

Chapter 5 - Mistakes were made.

After my bleachers session, I walked towards my locker and next lesson with was biology which went by as fast as it comes. I spent most of the time making notes, drawing and shading or playing with my necklace. The lesson quickly ended and I looked at the time, the lesson was a triple which was exhausting but thankfully the day was over but this meant that the night was starting and I had to hit the gas and get home.

I practically ran to my locker and grabbed my bag and helmet and sprinted out of the building and onto my bike before anyone could see me, I put my helmet on, hit the gas and rode off towards home. I watched as the familiar trees and scenery past me the same as this morning and watched as the signed that said.

'You are leaving Riverdale, the town with pep' was left behind as I entered the road to Greendale. I knew I didn't have long for this journey, I had to go save this poor girl before Malachai could get his hands on her, she was too innocent. She was probably like most of the girls here, taken and never taken back. That was the story for most of us aside From Adeline, she came there when she was 16, looking for a job after her mother kicked her out. She joined the year before I did at six, I had been through the training and all of that jazz for this until I was 11 when they had me doing actual work such as sweeping since they couldn't have me behind the bar or anywhere else until I was 15 which apparently they decided was a good age. I say their sick and twisted but, not my choice anymore.

I watched the light turn green and I hit the gas towards my apartment and parked my bike in its usual spot before running up the stairs to my apartment, opening the door putting my helmet on my dresser and throwing my clothes off before hitting the shower quickly, just to wash the sweat off from school and the smell of sweaty teenagers, I got out wrapped a towel around me and ran to plug in my hair dryer that was so old I'm surprised it hasn't blown up, I blow dried and styled my hair into a half up and half down style with a bun, I grabbed my uniform and placed my underwear under it.

My uniform was horrid, a white shirt with a mini skirt, stockings and a tie. It reminded me of a sexy school girl which made me wanna vomit, I grabbed my leather jacket and put it on before checking the time.

5:30pm, I sighed. No time to read, time to leave and save this poor baby.

I grabbed everything again and I was out the door with everything and on the bike before pressing the gas and getting to the club, the club was between the southside and Northside divide in riverdale to maximise customers, which meant I was going back on myself I know stupid right? Well it wasn't my choice the only apartment I could afford was in Greendale, I didn't mind the journey. I pulled into the gas station filled up my tank and payed, I got a lot of weird looks but I was over it and didn't pay much attention before getting back on my bike and ridding off.

I pulled up at the club called 'rivers night', god I can't believe I'm back here already and all night, I put my best smile on and walked in and saw Adeline talking to someone I didn't recognise, she must be the new girl. I walked over and watched the tears in the new girls eyes.

"Hey, I'm McKenzie. I've been here awhile and I've got your back sweetie, we have to look after each other here, Adeline is putting you on drinks. Nothing more, I'll deal with your job babes" I said in the nicest way I could but the quickest so she could get straight to work and she simply nodded and smiled weakly, I almost broke my own heart as I looked at her, she couldn't be much older than 14 and she was in this life. Poor kid.

I looked at the clock on the wall '6:30', almost opening time, we pulled down the chairs and placed them at tables. Gave the tables a rub down and cleaned alittle, I watched as diamond got on the stage and I sighed and nodded at her, I could see her nerves from here. She was nervous for what Malachai would say about the swap and how he would deal with it but I knew I could fix it.

The clock turned '7:00' and customers slowly trickled in and asked for a few drinks, we usually don't get busy until like 9:30 but we had to be careful, Diamond was on the stage doing her thing to one of her favourite songs something I didn't recognise. She was very poppy and I was well not, the new girl was running round doing drinks and she seemed to be a natural, but that goodluck might run out later on.

I looked at Adeline who was doing her main job of getting more drinks into people and she nodded as she saw everyone in their places, we knew this was risky for me and the new girl but I knew what I was doing, although the nerves were still there. I watched as the people came and got more and more drunk as the night went on, Diamond had switched places and was now on the floor and few of the girls came out of the rooms and did their thing, it was almost time.

I had a sudden feeling of sickness but I pushed it back and switched places with Elle, she went behind the bar and sighed, I knew this was gonna be a bad reaction maybe not, the new girl was taken into the back and I smiled at her calmly to try and reassure her.

Malachai entered with a few men and sat down in the corner booth, luckily for us, he was drunk and I could tell due to this walk. He wasn't walking straight he was struggling which meant this would go in our favour. I walked up to him as slowly as I could trying to be convincing. Maybe even sexual? I mean that was a part of my job so I guess that is a given.

I walked up to the group of me and Malachai looked at me with shock, almost anger.
"Where is she?" He spat and I wanted very badly to roll my eyes but I didn't so that was point for me. Okay guys here goes the plan.

"She's not feeling too good sir, we sent her to the back and on drinks just so she didn't mess up" I said making sure to sound as sweet as possible and convincing, he looked at me with a cold glare for a few seconds before nodding.

"Very well, gentleman. This is our best and most alluring, I'd like you to met 'McKenzie'. She's been here a very long time and she's very good at her job" he said while smirking and patting his lap for me to sit, I was too happy that the plan had worked and this meant the night would go smoothly with no bumps in the road. I walked over to him and sat between him and one of the men, they watched me move like vultures to a piece of meat. A look I was use too, I got through it by being Lorna, although Lorna is the true me. I hid it away a lot be McKenzie the quiet girl who does all her school work and is very shy whereas Lorna was a badass who was confident and wouldn't be pushed around.

The night was going smoothly until we hit a bump in the road. What kind of bump you may ask? The one that will get me sent to hospital but I'm not even bothered. Malachai tried to make a pass at me, normally this never happens but he smelt of Jingle Jangle and alcohol and I knew this wouldn't be good, he kept placing his hands around me and touching me and that is probably how what happened next came to light...
