I MADE MY WAY THROUGH AN OLD TUNNEL CONNECTED TO THE LOCKWOOD CELLAR WITH ELENA AND RIC. Mason had found something, only to go back to being a ghost right before Damon could ask what it was. Now we were going down there, being the only ones who could enter. It was spelled, making it impossible for vampires to enter.

"So, the Lockwoods really have no idea that these tunnels are underneath their property?" Elena asked.

"Yeah," Ric told her.

She was moving her flashlight around, making me roll my eyes and smile. "Careful where you shine that thing. Bats hate the light," I warned.

Me and Ric kept moving, but Elena came to a sudden halt. "Wait, what?" she asked.

I smirked. "Elena," Damon whispered behind her. She turned around, gasping. She backed up in fear.

"Damon," she snapped, realizing it was just him. She smacked him while I laughed. I gave him a thumbs up.

"Scaredy-cat," he said.

"Just ignore him, that's what I do," Ric told her, still bitter.

"So you really can't get in?" Elena asked the vampire.

"No. Seems even the ancient Lockwoods were anti-vampire," he told us, walking ahead.

"What do you mean, ancient?" Elena asked.

"See for yourself. This is as far as I can go," he told us. The three of us entered the little room, looking around at all the old cave drawings.

"What is all this?" Elena asked.

"Well, as far as I can tell, it's a story. In simple archeological terms, it's a really, really old story," Ric said.

"Like Klaus old?" I asked.

He nodded, and shined his flashlight at a certain drawing. It was three crescent moons, all turned in different directions. "That right there is the moon cycle. A man, a wolf," he said, moving to other drawings.

"A werewolf?" Elena asked.

"Yeah. It's the Lockwood diaries, pictionary style," Damon said.

"I don't understand. I thought the Lockwoods came here with the original founders in the 1860s," Elena said.

"Ah, maybe the Lockwood's did, but according to this wall these werewolves have been here a lot longer than that," Alaric told her.

"How long?" Elena asked.

"Long," Ric said.

"It gets better. Show them, Ric," Damon said

Ric moved to a corner. "Names, and they're not native. They're written in runic, a viking script," he told us.

"Vikings?" Elena asked.

"Yeah, vikings came here before the Europeans, but the expedition failed and they went home. They were embarrassed so they tried to cover it up. Took a little while for us to uncover it," I said. Everyone gave me a look. "What? I paid attention in history."

Ric pointed his flashlight towards a certain name. "This name, when translated, it reads, Niklaus," he said.

"Klaus," Elena realized.
