GOODBYE DAD
[3×13]

IT TOOK A MOMENT FOR ME TO REALIZE THE SCREAM I HAD JUST HEARD WAS MY OWN. I sat up straight in bed as I awoke from the horrible dream. Or at least, I wanted it to be a dream. I looked around my dark bedroom as I tried to catch my breath. Tears filled my eyes. "No, no, no," I said, putting my face in my hands. That couldn't happen, I couldn't let it.

I cried into my hands until I felt a hand on my shoulder. I jumped back, almost falling off the bed. Klaus grabbed me, keeping me from humiliating myself. Wait, no, I think I had already done that. "Rory? Little wolf, it was a nightmare. You're safe," he said.

That didn't slow my tears any. They just kept flowing as I shook my head. "No, it was real. It's going to happen," I sobbed.

"What, love?"

I didn't answer, I just kept sobbing. "I shouldn't have left him. This is my fault. This is all my fault," I muttered.

"What? Rory, what did you see?" Klaus asked.

I looked up at him. "My dad is going to die."

Mom told me that Dad was in the hospital, because Tyler had lost control after he turned. She said he should be fine, which I already knew. My Dad hadn't been killed by a wolf in my dream. It had been a knife.

I ran into the hospital. I saw Caroline talking to someone and ran over to her. "Where is he?" I asked.

My sister frowned as she saw me. "Rory, you okay?" Caroline asked.

"I'm fine. I just need to know where Dad is," I snapped.

"Yeah. Umm, can we take him home now?" Caroline asked the woman she was talking too.

"I signed his discharge papers late last night, just to shut him up," the woman said.

"What?" I asked. I swore. "No, no, no. This isn't happening again." I ran a hand through my hair, trying to get my brain to process this.

"Tell your dad I said you're welcome," the woman said and walked off.

"What's wrong?" Caroline asked me.

"I know this is going to sound crazy, but I don't think Dad is leaving this hospital alive," I said.

"What?" Caroline asked.

"You just have to trust me. It is really hard to explain," I said.

"Come on," she said.

We walked around the corner to find Elena. "That was fast," she said.

"Yeah, he's not here. He was discharged late last night," Caroline said.

"We need to find him, now," I said.

Caroline nodded and called our Dad. Elena started talking, but Caroline shushed her. "I can hear it," Caroline said, looking around.

"Hear what?" Elena asked.

"My dad's phone," Caroline told her. My heart dropped as Caroline moved closer to a supply closet. I pushed past her and ran into the room. I ran towards the sound of my father's ringing phone. I could hear Caroline and Elena calling after me, but I didn't stop until I saw him. I screamed again, seeing my father.
