When Jui first joined SM, Suho immeditally took her under his wing and gave her chances to work on. He had at first, given her the keys to EXO's studio, as well as informing her the path to the roof. When she didn't have training, and EXO wasn't in the studio, Jui would let herself in and start writing. It wasn't until about 2 months in that someone besides EXO knew.

Jui had fallen asleep in the studio, and a producer had come in the next morning. She was scolded at first, and her notebook was confistcated. When the producers and the CEO took a look through it, they realized that the girl had a knack for writing lyrics, on top of that, she spoke english, so the english parts of songs she wrote were proper english and would make sense to International Audiences.

So, that's how she ended up as a faceless producer of a majority of SM's hits. She was told to pick a producer name, and that she wasn't to let the public know about it. She adopted the stage name J12 (J=Jui, 12=her age at the time). Other companies began noticing that 'J12' was responsible for the lyrics of a majority of SM's music, and tried to persuade SM to let J12 to write for them.

However, since Jui was a trainee, she couldn't do that. She made a small amount of money, but most of it helped paid for her education and training costs.

So, when NCT U debuted, fans noticed the J12 this time was the sole lyricist, with Taeyong and Mark occasionally being listed. Many started to suspect it was one of the members, but the only person that they knew who had been a trainee in 2012 was Johnny, who hadn't debuted yet.

That was until a video of Jui surfaced, at a meeting of producers surfaced, where she was introduced as J12. Two days later, SM released a statement.

After the speculation that the producer J12 was a member of NCT, or SM Rookie Seo Youngho, we have come to clarify. J12, is Ji Do Hui, or NCT's Jui. Jui has an exculsive contract with us as a producer, however, now that she has debuted, her contract allows her to sell her songs to other companies, as well as having full royalties. Jui has been writing music since she joined the company, and doesn't intend to stop.
