Now, we'll go through Nagisa's second year quickly in this chapter~

Third person POV

His second year was nothing like the first year. Dull and boring, he made some friends but he could tell that they didn't actually radiate with the quality of kinship. His 'friends' hardly did fill the emptiness left by his actual friends.

On top of that, they were very cruel to the E-class, the class where failures were meant to go. The school magazine had sugarcoated the horrifying truth of the classroom, stating these following things.

E-class is a class where we send slow-paced students and students with irregular tendencies to teach them in a more meticulous manner.

Well, that was a load of crap, Nagisa thought, remembering the treatment that the E-class got during the assembly. It was appalling how the principal let this hierarchy continue. Classes above D and D itself were treated like normal students while E-class were treated worse than the dirt under their feet.

Nagisa hated the discrimination but he couldn't do anything regarding it so he just kept quiet. After all, it was the easiest thing he could manage to do in a predicament like this one.

A-class were the most superior ones, getting to stay in the same class as long as they scored high marks and got high ranks, top 50.

While the principal taught the philosophy of the continuity of the discrimination in the school, his son, Asano Gakushuu, made sure that the philosophy was drilled inside everyone's mind using his title of authority proudly.

He was grateful, however, since he got to meet up with Okuda time to time at the cafeteria to talk about how their study was going on.

"I've been keeping contact with Karma." Nagisa's eyebrows knitted at the lack of suffix, "And he's been doing fine as well, aggravating the school council president at that." Okuda said making Nagisa sigh, of course, what did he expect of Karma?

"Oh, yeah..that's great." Nagisa forced himself to chuckle at Karma's mention, feeling his gut coil tightly and feel somewhat jealous of Okuda for being able to talk to Karma.

"Mmhmm..he even made the ever calm president to almost lash out at him." That sounded very Karma-like. It was almost like a paradox how he wanted to hear about Karma even though every mention and mischief of him even though it made him feel even more lonelier.

"Hah, that guy makes mischief wherever he goes. I am kinda worried about him since I'm not with him anymore." Nagisa trailed off, and Okuda's eyes softened.

"Of course."

~

A nagging feeling of wanting to see Karma hit Nagisa unexpectedly during lunch break so he just gave in, going towards the A-class to at least get a short glimpse. He was feeling unusually needy, most likely because of his developing dynamic, forcing him to need to see Karma anyhow.

As he walked along the hallways, he heard hushed whispers shared by the students and his ear twitched somehow when Karma's name was mentioned amidst their conversation.

"Oi, did you hear about Akabane?"

"What is it?"

Nagisa switched his attention to the ongoing conversation between the three boys, allowing himself to collect info about him sneakily.
