Chapter 44: Complicated

John's POV

"Anong meron ba't nagyaya ka uminom?"

Sinamaan ko ng tingin ang nanunuyang kaibigan kong si Bob. Kakarating niya lang kasama ang iba pa naming barkada. Tinext ko sila na pumunta sa condo ko.

"Dude, what's wrong?" Tanong ni Mike.

Napailing ako sabay inom ng beer. Linagok ko lahat sa bote saka inabot ang isa pang bote.

"Kung pinapunta mo lang kami dito para panuorin kang mag lasing, mabuti pang umuwi nalang kami." Sabi ni Sander.

Napasimangot ako nung mapansin kong may kulang. Kulang ng sumisita sakin, "Asan si Ralph?" I asked.

Nagkibit balikat si Bob at Mike. Napatingin ako kay Sander. Sila kasi ang mas madalas magkita ni Ralph.

"He can't come. Gen won't let him leave the house tonight. You know, pregnancy. He has to obey her otherwise she'll have tantrums." Sander informed us.

Napangisi ako ng mapait. What a lucky guy. I envy Ralph sometimes. He is married to the woman he loves so much, and they are now having two children.

"Mabuti pa siya, he's already happy." Mapait na sabi ko.

I saw how three of them exchanging stares  with each other. I didn't bother to know what they were thinking.

"Why? Are you not happy with Patricia?" Mike asked me.

I sighed, "We're complicated."

"I knew it!" Malakas na sabi ni Bob na kinatingin namin sa kanya. Parang natuwa siya sa nalaman. "Kaya naman pala bigla kang nagpapainom. Nagiging galante kalang talaga pag brokenhearted ka, dude. Dapat ba kaming mag pasalamat kay Patricia?"

"Shut up." Seryosong sabi ko. Wala akong gana mag joke ngayon.

"John, tell us what happened to you and Patricia. Bakit complicated kayo?"

Tiningnan ko si Sander. Sa aming lima na magba-barkada, siya yung pinaka maunawain at matatakbuhan mo pag may problema. Kaya nga special treatment kami sa company niya eh. He's so nice. Hindi ko nga minsan maisip pano niya kami natagalan, but we're blessed to have him.

"I cheated on her."

Natahimik silang lahat. Napangisi ako. I already expected their reactions. I was no longer surprised. Napainom ulit ako ng beer not minding their stares at me.

"You gotta be kidding." Hindi makapaniwalang sabi ni Mike.

Umiling ako sa kanya to let him know that I wasn't kidding.

"What the hell, dude?? What did you do?
I thought you are head over heels with that girl? Why did you cheat?" Mike asked.

I am. I am so in-love with her that it makes me go crazy. All I want to do is to be beside her all the time, and I just can't stand not seeing her often. That's why I pick her up in the morning and drive her home after work. But because of my hectic schedule recently at work, I can't see her often. I planned so many things for us in between my trips, so I could spend more time with her. One of the trips I planned was that island getaway for Klein's birthday, but it was messed up. Really freaking messed up.

"I kissed someone, and she saw it." I admitted it to them. Well, what should I hide from them? They're my friends. They already know a lot about me —ugly or not. What could I lose if I tell them?

"Dang! Are you serious?? But why did you kiss other woman? Ang tanga mo, dude. Pinag hirapan mong mapa-oo siya tapos ikaw lang din pala ang sisira sa relasyon niyo. Why did you screw up??" Bob asked this time.
