Breakfast. The morning was terribly cold, and people seemed quiet this year, even the first years.

My cereal had become soggy as I neglected it, Draco didn't even bother to look at his plate or address that it existed. I hugged my robes around me rest my head on my hand. I yawned.

"What classes do you have?" Draco snatched my schedule from me urgently, he compared his classes to mine with attentive eyes. He looked upset. Still...

Draco huffed and throw my paper back at the table. "We only have potions together!" Draco narrowed his eyes. "Why'd I even bother coming back this year". He asked himself, glaring at his lap. "Hey, it's going to be fine". I looked at him and he sighed, staring at me. He seemed to relax.

"How are you even going to participate, without a wand..." He trailed off, looking down, as if he was thinking I was going to be helpless all year. I frowned. "I can still perform spells, it just.. takes a little effort". I shrugged. "Watch this!" I smirked. If there's a way to cheer a malfoy up, theres only one way to do it.

I held my right hand up, before pointing my index finger at a familiar Gryffindor, who once bullied me in my second year. Slytherin's never forget.

"Tarantallegra!" I cast a jinx at the Gryffindor, smirking, Draco watched curiously. The jinx causes the victim to start wildly dancing and tapping their feet. Draco couldn't help but laugh, I smiled. I watched as the guy ferociously tapped his feet along to a nonexistent beat. That was enough to make my day.

"Miss L/n, would you care to explain to your head of house why you've already started to deduct points from yourself?"

Oh no, bad move Y/n, bad move.

My shoulders stiffened and Draco glared at something behind me. Oh no...

I turned around hesitantly, meeting with an expectant Professor Snape.
"... Draco was sad". I muttered to him in panick, cowering as he towered above me. I could hear Draco facepalm behind me. "Detention, to the both of you. This evening, don't be late".

He walked away without another word, leaving towards the dungeons. Probably to get to his classroom to prep for first period.

I turned back towards Draco who was certainly now smiling anymore.

"This is just like our second year Y/n". Draco muttered. I smiled, he faintly smiled back. "Detention on the first day, what a wonder". I said in a long breath. He rolled his eyes.

I stared hard at the schedule, biting my lips nervously. My blood rushed in anxiety and irrational fears. It was currently five minutes before sixth period started. Sixth period to me was the equivalent of hell. Defense Against The Dark Arts with Snape. Whom I would stay with directly after during 7th period, my last and free period. He had caught me before my last class in the castles fourth corridor and ordered me to come in at that time. So that Malfoy and I could be punished separately. Since I was technically the one who did it, he was just somehow considered a participant. You do not know how terrifying it was to unknowingly walk down a corridor where Snape patiently awaited your presence specifically. He also lectured me right there and then in the hall which only made it worse. Despite our past, he's hellbent on acting like it never happened as I can see.

I wad reluctantly hiding behind Harry when we walked into the cold dark classroom. Thankfully I shared this period with the famous Harry Potter. He should shield me from very much attention. I was trembling a little. It was no lie that I wasn't the best at this particular class. Not that I sucked, I was just known to mess up every once in awhile. Casting duel spells comes naturally, but defensive spells were difficult. I could only really produce a patronus. And even at that it was a bunny. I mean c'mon how pathetic is that? That's my patronus. It made me shiver, somebody was probably going to tease me. Certainly would not be surprised if it was Snape.
