CHAPTER 13: Drowning in Strife

"Kill her."

Damn it!

Cole was panicking. He didn't know what to do.

His head was telling him to give her up.

It's the logical response. And then negotiate.

They can save the situation this way.

However half of his heart was incensed. He wanted to kill all of the people in here.

He knew that if he did so, he would be no better than the old Overseer. He can't succumb to his desires.

He just wanted all of the whispering within him to stop.

Within seconds of the Major's command, Yeri had appeared right by Cole's side. "Sorry about this."

He yanked Cole away from Claire, restraining his hands behind his back.

"Run, Claire!" Cole desperately orders her.

She needs to survive.

There was no time to think.

The soldiers pull out their guns aiming it at her.

"This is your last chance. Will you cooperate?" The Major gives her a deep look.

The Overseer glances at the entity.

He was being shoved up against the wall. His arms tied behind his back.

He looked pitiful.

It seems this Yeri has some kind of ability to suppress the entity's mutation. Rendering him as a human with normal strength.

The Overseer knew that she couldn't act rashly.

They cannot kill.

They cannot show their supernatural strength either.

She could only retreat.

Claire slowly raises her hands up. "Don't. Shoot." She slowly looks around making sure they heard her.

"What are you doing Claire!?" Cole shouts viciously at her. "Get outta here, now!"

Claire knew what his words meant.

He wanted her to use her unnatural powers to escape.

Unfortunately he has miscalculated.

The Overseer saw him as hers.

She couldn't abandon him.

She had changed. Like he wanted.

And she was certain.

She liked him.

Yeri reveals a small smile as he gestures for a soldier to apprehend Claire.
