Chapter 4 (pt. 2): first day of school

I finally find the biology room.
I take a deep breath before I open the door, carefully.
Everyone are looking at me, as I walk in.
I'm shaking of nervousness.

"Oh that must be miss. Stone"
The teacher says

"Yes"
I say closing the door behind me

"Hello, I'm Mr. Smith I'm your teacher in biology, welcome to GH. Do you want to introduce yourself to your fellow classmates?"
He asks

"Uhm yeah sure.. my name is-"
I cut off myself in my own confusion
I look at the students in the room.
And see Billie.
Or I think it's her... she's sitting in the back of the class with her hoodie on, so I can't see her hair. It looks like she's drawing something in a notebook...
Suddenly she lifts her head and looks at me.
Very intense... we lock eyes and the moment freezes.

"Ahemm.. miss. Stone, do you want to continue introducing yourself for the class or?"
Mr. Smith says

"Oh yeah of course I'm sorry, uhm hi, my name is Melody Athena Stone.. I moved to Highland Park in the end of summer break with my family from London so that's why I have a bit of an accent"
I say nervously..

"Great welcome to this years semester of biology we're looking forward to have you here, you can sit, there"
The teacher says and start an applause.
He points out the table and chair right beside of Billie..

I smile and sit down.
I find my notebooks and the book we use for biology, that I just got from my locker.
And start paying attention to what mr. Smith is saying, about biodiversity.

*50 minutes later*

Finally the first class is over...
it's hard to start again in a new place, surrounded by new people.
I look at my class schedule to see where I have to be after this.
It's like my eyes can't pay attention to the small numbers and letters on the paper. I just sit and stare on the paper while everyone are leaving around me.

"Yo, new girl you need any help findin the next classroom?"
Someone says..

The voice sounds similar.. it can't be anyone else than, Billies.
I look up.
Yup it was her.

"No no I got it, thanks"
I say looking at my paper again.

"Okay, see you"
She says and walk relaxed out
I look at her as she leaves the room.. and regretting more and more that I said "no" when she offered her help.
I pack away my things and start running after her.. I can't be late for the next class too.

"Wait, wait Billie, room 26 what?!"
I say almost stumbling over my own legs trying not to fall into all the students in the hallway.

"Yeaah, new girl?"
She says slowing down her pace
I finally reach her. And I show her my schedule.

"Oh I know where that is"
She says and keep walking

"I guess I'm gonna follow you to class, new girl"
She says and smirk

"Yea I'm sorry I'm kinda helpless, also I actually have a name"
I say.

"It's fine, new girl, now. Do you wanna keep small talking and get late for your second class on this deadass school, or do you actually wanna be right in time?"
She says

"I want to be right in time of course,
my name is Melody Athena Stones or Mel"
I say offended

She slows down and stop right in front of me
And the reach out her hand for a handshake.

"Okay hi, Melody Athena Stones, my name is Billie Eilish Pirate Baird O'Connell nice to meet you!"
She says shaking my hand heavily

"Now shut up, either both of us end up being late as hell for our next classes and my absence can't afford that"
Billie says pushing me in the right direction.

Her little scene made me smile.
She's goofy.
I like her energy.
