Brock noticed Jo fidgeting. She was biting her nails as she frowned, looking at a set of pictures.

"When did you go to the library?", asked Brock, startling the rookie.

"Something bit Winter's arm", said Jo.

"Something? What did he do?", asked Brock.

"I dropped something in the drain outside and I asked him to get it for me. He was pulled in, but he managed to tug himself free. Look at the indentations", she said, telling Brock the lie she had fabricated and made Bucky memorised in case Brock asked.

"What the fuck...", Brock's eyes grew wide.

Jack entered the kitchen and peeked from behind Jo to see what's going on. He was surprised too.

"There's something in this town, Brock. I'm not delusional. Look at the papers", said Jo.

Brock and Jack looked at the newspaper clippings Jo had borrowed from the library. A lot of children have been disappearing every 27 years.

"How long until the next cycle?", Brock asked.

"How long? It has begun", said Jo, tossing the recent newspapers on the table, showing a few kids had begun to disappear.

"What are we dealing with?", asked Jack.

"To be honest, I don't wanna know, but..., it didn't just prey on kids", said Jo, suddenly turned a bit pale.

"Did you see it, Jo?", asked Brock.

Jo shrugged. She sat down and Jack noticed she was shaking. "Should we do something?", he asked Brock.

"Our order is to lay low. We don't want to attract attention", said Brock.

"Did you see it, Jo?", asked Jack.

Jo shrugged again. She saw, in her dream, her baby being snatched away. She tried to save her baby, but, she failed..., every time. She can't show weakness to them.

"It's nothing. I just want to know what cause those dents. It can't be a gator. The pipes are too narrow", said Jo.

"Would you feel better if I send these to our techs and see if they match anything to our system?", asked Brock.

Jo nodded. "Get some rest, Jo. We'll stand on watch tonight", said Jack.
She doubted she could sleep tonight. Whatever that 'thing' was, she needed to know.
