Emma, Norman, and I ran together. I was behind them, making sure that no one was watching us or that Mom didn't come out.
"Emma," Norman said. Emma nodded and flung the bag of ropes elsewhere. When I turned, I met face-to-stomach with Mom.
I backed up and scrambled next to Norman, grabbing onto his arm for comfort.
"Mom? What's wrong?" Emma asked as she neared us.
She gave Mom a fake grin as I also smiled.
Norman touched my hand to comfort me. But I could tell he was also scared.
{ What's going on? What happened to Ray? Don? Gilda? Why is Mom here? Think, this situation... What could be happening? }
