It's been five years since you last saw your two best friends from high school. They moved away shortly after graduation and you haven't seen them since. But today they're coming out to LA, where they'll be vacationing for a week so you finally get to see them again.
They used to bully you back in high school until you ended up giving them strategies to win their next big game as well as tutoring them and making sure they kept their grades up so they could continue to play, and you've been best friends ever since.
And though you haven't seen each other in years, being with them again made it feel as though none of you left your little hometown. You laughed and joked around together the same way you did growing up. It all felt the same.
"Hey, we should go to play some soccer." Your friend, Brandon, said. His sister Anna, who was your other best friend, agreed. You've never been a sports fan but you agreed since you haven't seen them in so long and you really wanted to hang out with them.
You kicked the soccer ball back and forth just lightly at first but then they began to really get into it and things began to happen a bit faster. You went to kick it to him when you lost your footing and you fell into the mud instead.
You felt a pain go through your ankle right away as your friends ran over to you. "Y/n? Are you okay?" You nodded and tried to stand up but the pain was too bad. "I think I sprained my ankle. It hurts really bad." Your friends had you hold onto them as they stood you up, but eventually, it became too difficult not to put any pressure on your ankle and he decided to carry you instead.
The door opened and accidentally slammed against the wall making Taylor jump. When she saw you being carried in by some guy she had never met before she was a little panicky. "Who are you? What are you doing to my girlfriend?" Brandon carefully sat you down on the couch and you rolled your eyes at your overprotective girlfriend.
"I'm fine Taylor. It was just an accident. These are my friends from high school, they're in LA for the week. We were just hanging out and goofing off and I slid in the mud and sprained my ankle. I'll be fine."
Taylor folded her arms over her chest and glared at your friends making them shake in their shoes. "Well, uh, we're gonna head out and explore LA. You rest that ankle. Bye Taylor, it was really nice to meet you." They said as they walked out of the house.
"You should've called me," Taylor told you as she went into the kitchen to grab you some ice for your ankle. "It's fine. They carried me back." Taylor sat next to you on the couch and put the ice on your ankle. You winced at the sudden cold on your skin but relaxed as she put your ankle on a pillow to keep it elevated. "You're my girlfriend, y/n. I wanna be the one to take care of you."
You giggled and put your hand on her thigh. "You're taking care of me right now." You smiled and leaned in to kiss her but she moved away before you could. "Tay? What's up with you?" "I don't think your friends are good influences on you." You furrowed your eyebrows at her. "Excuse me?" "You heard me y/n, I know you did. I don't think they're good influences on you. Look at your ankle!" you sighed and rubbed her thigh comfortingly.
"Taylor I get that you're worried about me. But they're really great people, okay? I've known them since I was fifteen. It was just an accident that I got hurt. And, it's a little hypocritical that you're judging my friends for being bad influences when some of your friends have been bad influences on you. You haven't made great choices every day of your life, Taylor. You know how bad some of your friends are, or used to be. Don't sit here and judge mine when you didn't even get the chance to know them."
You paused and pinched the bridge of your nose. "You have no idea what I've been through in the past. I would've been miserable without them, Taylor. They've helped me through so much and they've always been there for me. They used to pick on me but I helped them out and they changed and they're some of the sweetest people that I know. I talk to them every day and getting to see them again today made me so happy. And, not to mention, I wouldn't be the best godmother to the most amazing little boy in the world. Anna just had a baby a year or so ago and he's amazing."
Taylor sighed and put her hand on your back, gently rubbing it up and down on your skin. "I'm sorry. I didn't know." You nodded your head and Taylor gently pulled you against her chest. "I'll apologize to them tomorrow. Okay? I'm sorry." You smiled and turned your head to give her a kiss. "Okay. Thank you." She grinned and kissed your hand softly. "How's your ankle? Doing okay? Need more ice?' You giggled as she began to pepper kisses across your shoulder. "It's okay. Thank you." "You let me know if you need anything. Okay?" You nodded and rested your head against her chest. "I will."
You closed your eyes and soon fell asleep, focusing on her hand rubbing up and down your back. You felt happy and content in your girlfriend's arms and with knowing that you'd get to see your friends again tomorrow.
