Taylor stuck the spare key back inside her pocket as she stepped inside your apartment.
The first thing she noticed was how quiet and dark it was; the curtains were pulled shut and she could hear her own breathing as she looked around for you.
She was already worried before she got there. You weren't answering your phone; not a call or a text, nothing to assure your worried girlfriend that you were safe and okay. So seeing your apartment like this without any trace of you worried her even more.
She took the stairs more than one step at a time. It felt like her feet were moving all on her own as her anxiety grew. This is all so unlike you and she can't help but imagine the worst.
But when she got to your room, a little nervous about what she might see, she was relieved to see you laying in bed asleep. She had a smile on her face, heart melting at how angelic and relaxed she thought you looked. But when she got closer she noticed how unsteady and heavy your breathing was, how your skin was sticky with sweat, and how fragile you seemed.
She sat down by you and pressed her hand against your forehead. Your skin was hot, too hot. She rubbed your arm and slowly coaxed you awake. "Tay?"
"Yeah, darling. It's me. Are you sick?" You nodded weakly. "Been feeling really sick all day. I was throwing up and I feel achy." She frowned and stood up, coming back a minute later with a thermometer.
"You definitely have a fever. You're burning up," She pushed your hair away from your forehead, nails lightly scratching at your hairline making you sigh in appreciation. Taylor impatiently waited for the thermometer to beep and when it did and she saw the numbers, she frowned once more.
"What can I do? Do you need anything?" You lifted the blankets on the other side of the bed up and smiled tiredly at her. "Hint taken." She smiled and laid down, pulling you into her arms, even though you protested for her not to.
"No, Taylor. I don't want you to get sick." You tried to squirm away but her grip around you only tightened. "I'll be okay. Just let me hold you for a while."
You closed your eyes and listened to the sound of her heartbeat, humming quietly here and there when she'd play with your hair.
"Thanks for coming all the way over here just to make sure I was okay." You teased, grinning tiredly. "I had to make sure you were okay. I care about you so much." She said as she gazed down at you lovingly, meaning every single word she said.
You fell asleep soon enough and Taylor slid a pillow under your head so you wouldn't wake up when she left. She also made sure you were covered with a couple of fluffy blankets, wanting to make sure you stayed warm and comfy.
She then went downstairs and searched through your cupboards for some soup to make you. She hated when you were sick; not because she didn't like to take care of you, because she kinda liked it when you let her fuss over you sometimes. But rather that she hated seeing you so sick, so miserable. She'd always do whatever it took to make you feel better and this time was no different.
She wouldn't be leaving your side till you were better, no matter how long it took.
