You watched the doctor close the door behind him to give you some space and privacy.

The time was after two in the morning. You were exhausted, both from the long day you had as well as the tears you've continued to cry since you woke up about an hour ago to a terrifying and tragic discovery.

You knew what it was. You knew you had lost your baby before the ambulance even arrived at the house or before the doctor muttered the words to you. The pain in your abdomen and blood between your thighs and on the sheet below you proved it.

It was a pain you'd never felt before; both emotional and physical. It was horrible enough to lose them, but even worse having to go through it without Taylor by your side.

She's on a promo tour with only a couple of weeks left. It was a shorter tour, much shorter than any of her previous ones. It wasn't exactly unsurprising since she's been settling down a little more. But no one knew the biggest reason behind the short schedule and very few stops - your baby.

You were only less than four months along. You had known about the little life inside of you for almost two and a half months. You cherished every second. You and Taylor had planned out so many things for the future you'd share, the three of you together.

And you just watched it all disappear before your eyes.

You wept into the pillow your head rested on. You felt empty. You felt heartbroken. You felt disappointed. It almost felt like everything was falling apart before you.

Nurses and the doctor would keep popping in to check on you, to see if you needed anything... but all you really needed was Taylor.

You grabbed your phone from the table by your hospital bed. You clicked on Taylor's contact and even though it was late, you knew she'd answer, and she did in a heartbeat.

"Y/n?" She yawned. It was obvious she'd been sleeping. "Baby, it's after two in the morning. Is everything okay?"

Your bottom lip trembled at the sound of her voice. You needed her here with you. You couldn't do this by yourself.

"No."

"What? What's wrong?"

You sobbed, only causing Taylor to worry more. "I woke up a couple of hours ago and... there was blood. Taylor... the baby... I,"

You couldn't say the words. There was a lump in your throat and you couldn't stop crying. But you didn't need to say anything. Taylor understood by your heartbreaking cries and the pain in your voice. It wasn't long till she started to cry, too.

"I need you to come home. I can't do this, I can't do it by myself. Please, Tay. Please come home."

"I'm gonna be there in a bit, baby. I'm getting my shoes on right now. I'll take care of my things in the hotel later, I'll have someone pick it up. I'm gonna get Tree and she's gonna get me a ticket and I'm gonna be home. I'm coming, baby girl. I promise I'll be there soon."

You sniffled and breathed out a shaky sigh.

"You're not gonna be alone. I'm on my way, okay?"

"Okay..." you mumbled and ended the call without another word. You buried your fade back into the pillow. You felt a warm blanket being thrown over you, a kind nurse who'd heard your sobs had brought one in for you. You cried yourself to sleep, hoping when you woke up that Taylor would be right there.

Taylor had arrived at the hospital and went to the desk. It was mostly empty. It was so quiet it was haunting. "Um... my girlfriend, y/n y/l/n, was admitted here. Can you tell me what room she's in?"

The nurse read something on the computer and nodded. "104."

Taylor rushed to your room. She opened the door, her heart shattering when she heard you crying on the bed. Your shoulders were slumped and shaking as you sobbed.

Taylor felt her lip wobble and her hands tremble as she walked towards you. Her hand pressed against your back and you sniffled before turning to look at her.

"Y/n..."

"I'm sorry. Tay, I'm sorry."

She shook her head and pulled you into her arms. "It's not your fault. It isn't your fault at all. These things happen, unfortunately. But you did nothing wrong."

You felt a tear fall against your hair, signaling that Taylor was also crying.

"I love you. This doesn't change that, not at all. I'm not mad at you, y/n. I don't blame you whatsoever, so don't you dare blame yourself for it, either." She pauses and kissed your head.

"I know that we didn't even know what they were or what we were gonna name them but... I loved them. I loved them so much."

"I know. I know they loved you, too." You nodded hesitantly. "One day we'll have our little family. I promise."

You sighed heavily.

A few minutes of silence went by. You could feel Taylor's hand rubbing along your back. "Thank you for coming. People kept asking me if I needed anything and all I needed was you."

Another tear rolled down Taylor's cheek. "I'm here now. We can go home whenever you're ready, but I'm gonna be by your side every step of the way from here on out. I love you."

She put her hand on your stomach out of habit, but her lip trembled again when she realized that there wasn't really a point to it now.

"I love you so much, y/n. I promise that we'll have a baby one day soon. But until then, we've got each other. I promise that I've got you, I've always got you, and I won't ever let you go."
