After a long day, one that felt like it would never end, she was excited to finally be home. She planned on ordering you both your favorite takeout and cuddling on the couch with you while you listened to soft music or watched some comedy films.
But that wouldn't be the case. And she knew that when she heard you cry. She sprinted up the stairs to you and found you sitting on the bed in tears. "Hey, what's wrong? Did something happen?" She asked as she sat next to you and pulled you close to her.
You sniffled and tried to stop crying. You don't want her to know.
But as she wrapped you in her arms you broke down. You cried against her chest. She tried so hard to soothe you, to try to take away the pain you felt, but it was just so overwhelming. The destructive thoughts, the nearly impossible to ignore urges, was all just too much for you to take.
"It's okay, y/n." You shook your head. "N-No," you stammered as you cried. Your breathing was irregular as you threw yourself into another panic attack, adding another to the number you'd lost track of.
Taylor could feel how fast your heart was beating. She's been by your side through them before and she knew exactly what you needed at that moment; her.
So she tilted your chin up, locking eyes with your red and puffy ones. "You're gonna be okay, y/n. I'm right here with you. Nothing's gonna happen, you're safe with me, darling. Just try to breathe. Take a deep breath,"
You shook your head in response as you panted harshly. You felt like you couldn't breathe. It felt like there was no oxygen around and you couldn't get any into your lungs. "You can. I know you can. Just try, for me, baby."
You grasped her hands in yours. Your grip was strong and tight but Taylor didn't care. If it helped, she'd let you squeeze her hands as hard as you needed to. You inhaled sharply through your nose and let out slow breaths until your breathing became more steady.
"That's it, y/n. You've got it now. You're strong, you're doing great." She soothed, coaxing you through the rest of the panic attack that lasted a few more minutes until it finally loosened it's strong and overpowering grip on you.
You threw your head on Taylor's chest when you felt yourself come back around. Taylor let you cry softly against her neck.
"Wanna talk to me? Tell me what's going on? I'm really worried about you, baby. Please talk to me. You know you can tell me anything, no matter how bad you think it may be."
You released a shaky breath. You couldn't handle it anymore, not on your own.
"I know... that I can always talk to you. It's just that I've never told anyone this before and I'm scared." Your bottom lip quivered and Taylor shook her head at you.
"You don't have to be scared. It's only me. You know I'll never judge you."
She was so softspoken, so loving and attentive to you. If there was ever anyone you could confide in, even as terrible as you think this is, you know it's Taylor.
"I-I had some really bad thoughts today, and I really wanna give into them." You whispered in shame and bit down hard on your lip to stop the river of tears that you felt was gonna flow once again.
"Oh, baby..." Taylor cooed as she brought your hand to her lips, kissing it softly as she closed her eyes.
"It's not the first time, Taylor. I've been dealing with this for so long and I just, I don't think that I can anymore. It's overwhelming and it's so hard to ignore. I'm so ashamed of myself that I let this all get so out of hand but I can't escape them anymore. They just keep coming."
Taylor felt a tear roll down her cheek. She would've never expected it, and perhaps that's the thing that broke her heart the most. Because she's never checked to even see if you were struggling, to see if you were fighting a war within your own mind.
"I just feel like I'm not strong enough to get through this anymore-"
"No. No, you are. Y/n you're the strongest woman I know. I know it may not feel like it, but baby, you're fighting through this. You're so much stronger than you know. I know I couldn't make it through half of what you have."
She stroked your cheek and you cracked a tearful smile. "We can get you help, but only if you want to."
You sobbed. "Really?"
She nodded.
"Will you come with me? I don't think I could do it on my own."
She leaned forward and planted a kiss to your forehead. "You're not alone. If that's what you want then I'll be right by your side, every step of the way." She promised as she intertwined her fingers with yours.
She gave them a squeeze, assuring you that no matter what, you'd be in this together.
"And I want you to come right to me next time this happens. Whether I'm right here next to you, a thousand miles away, or at work - I don't care about any of that, you come right to me. Okay? I need you to promise me that."
"I promise," you said, and you meant it.
It felt so good to get all of that off of your shoulders and to know that you weren't alone.
Because with Taylor by your side, you'd never have to face anything on your own, no matter how terrible things are.
