"Maybe I'm better off dead
If I was would it finally be enough
To shut out all those voices in my head?
Maybe I'm better off dead
Better off dead!
Did you hear a word
Hear a word I said?
This is not where I belong
You're gonna miss me when I'm gone
Gone, gone
This is not where I belong
You're gonna miss me when I'm gone"

A knock resounded against my door as I slipped my leather jacket on.
"Come in" I called.
The door opened, Alec stepping through.
"Hey" he whispered.
"What's up?" I asked whilst trying my hair back.
"I...wanted to apologise" Alec said.
I spun round, grabbing my ruby necklace from my nightstand and clipping it around my neck.
"For what?" I questioned obliviously.
"For how I was before we found Lydia. It came across like I regretted it" he explained, taking a step forward.
"Alec, trust me, it's okay. You were stressed and just unsure" I reminded him, sitting on the bed to pull my boots on.
"Selena, I don't regret it" Alec said passionately.
I tied the laces, standing up and walking to the skyscraper of a man in front of me.
"Prove it then" I challenged.

Alec didn't even hesitate but to connect his lips to mine in a passionate, loving kiss. His hands snaked around my waist, mine easily finding themselves around his neck.
"Does that prove it?" He asked breathlessly, resting his forehead against mine.
"Yeah...it does" I mumbled, slightly stunned from the kiss.
I didn't know Alec held so much passion. That he could make me feel so breathless and...hot. It was exciting.
"What I did...I did that for us. You don't need to worry about anything. My parents, what others think" he reassured, bringing his hand to my cheek.
"You're so sweet Alec. And as much as I would love to stand here and kiss you all night, we've got a mission" I reminded him as his eyes widened a fraction.

We walked to the training room, Jace in there shoving weapons into his holsters. After finding out about Hodge, which absolutely broke everyone but Clary, Jace was on a rampage.
"Jace, what are you doing?" Clary asked, looking over the pair.
"Every second we waste here, Hodge gets closer to Valentine" Jace hissed, still packing his weapons.
I was worried about Jace, all of us were. Ever since he found out Valentine was his father, he was different. Angry, aggressive.
"Hey, we're a team, all right? I know you're mad right now, but Hodge could be dangerous" Clary reasoned, touching Jace's arm.
He flinched away, hurt flooding Clary's eyes.

"Two of us, one of him. Check the math, but I'm pretty sure he's outnumbered" Jace said, a bored tone lacing his words.
"Three" I corrected Jace.
"No, you're not coming Lena" Alec defended.
"What do you mean 'I'm not coming'?" I retorted.
Alec grabbed my arm gently, tugging me across the room. Clary and Jace kept talking, emotionally from what it seems.
"Clary is right, which I hate to say, but he could be dangerous" Alec reasoned.
"I know but three against one? I think we'll be fine" I argued.
Alec's eyes softened, a vulnerability showing that I hadn't seen in years.
"Selena, please. I just got you back into my life, back in a way I've wanted for years. I won't...I can't risk losing you" he whispered.
I sighed slightly, hating the way he could just look at me in a certain way and get me to do anything.
"Fine, I'll go with Izzy and Clary to get Camille. But stay safe," I reminded him,"and come back to me" I whispered, putting my hand to his neck and pressing my lips to his in a quick kiss.
"Trust me, I will" he mumbled with a smile.
